Stop users from right clicking on forums.

This mod will not allow users to right click on your forums, when they right click a pop-up message will apper telling them that its disabled. Ive also changed the posting templates a bit telling users how to paste something into their message without right clicking.

I do not personally use this and it anoys me when i go to a site that dose. Im only releasing it cause omeone asked for it via PM.

Screenshots in next two post.

People like to right click, such as right click > open in new window.

Brad 10-24-2002 05:51 PM

I never said id use it myself, i guess some people just dont want people to right click. 150% of the time if i come across a site that dose this i never retrun.

Burning_Ice 10-24-2002 06:06 PM

Hehe, same here.

DustinLikeOGM 10-25-2002 01:15 AM

that would be great to avoid people stealing your images by right clicking, and "save image as"

Tony G 10-25-2002 06:06 AM

Hmm, how about copying? Would that be disabled with this mod? Otherwise it would be great to prevent image stealing.

LoRDsTaR 10-25-2002 06:40 AM

thanks for hack

Red5 10-25-2002 06:52 AM

i'ts kind of lame though anyone can by pass this code, and anyone can get this code over at any scripts page...so....

Mr. X 10-25-2002 06:57 AM

"Otherwise it would be great to prevent image stealing."

Not really. Like said its not hard at all to get around it in IE6, and it wouldnt work at all in Moz etc. But clueless users wouldnt know most likely so in that end it would work nicely :)

Personally if image stealing was a problem I'd use .htaccess.

Photon 10-25-2002 11:15 AM

hacked ;) rightmouseclick and hold the button, press "enter" unhold :)

DustinLikeOGM 10-25-2002 02:19 PM

but it would help image stealing from newbies :-0

Tony G 10-25-2002 11:44 PM

They may not be newbies to right clicking, though.

you having a laugh all the images from your forum are already in the temp internet folder anyway waiting to be moved to the desktop all this does is annoy users:)

jed717ph 10-31-2002 03:54 AM

This is good so that the texts in the forum such as important infos may not be copied easily.

Nice!

Jakelshark 11-01-2002 12:56 PM

heres something i was working on you might like

this adds a real cool right click menu insted of that pop up (no offense)

easy edit and can post images (icons), links, and text

well have fun with it, theres a how to edit file included

it might not concel your stuff, but its easy to stop begginers and look real nice :D

screenshot a working demo

(i know that temp needs some work, but i have been doing my html and flash site lately)

if you get a brown/black page go here then right click (you get a preview of my site)

imported_Porter 11-07-2002 01:42 PM

This is a way 2 avoid a no-right-click popup:

Quote:

<script language=JavaScript>
<!--

var message="";

function clickIE() {if (document.all) {(message);return false;}}
function clickNS(e) {if
(document.layers||(document.getElementById&&!docum ent.all)) {
if (e.which==2||e.which==3) {(message);return false;}}}
if (document.layers)
{document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);document. onmousedown=clickNS;}
else{document.onmouseup=clickNS;document.oncontext menu=clickIE;}
// -->
</script>

x-wave 12-25-2002 08:00 AM

That actually doesn?t wotk right. Make a right click, then when that windows pos up, just keep pressing the mouse button and hit "enter" on the keyboard, then let the mouse button and u?ll see :)
