Seems like it. Im still waiting to upgrade to 3.0 because Im not re-installing the hacks three times.

What happened to xelation.com did you ever sell it? If not Im interested.

SaintDog 09-24-2002 10:15 PM

vBT will be a 2.2.6 -> 3.0 move, too much done to keep upgrading, at least for now.

Yep, maybe they should really test etc. so bugs are to a minimal and no more upgrades are needed. I'm staying on 2.2.6 until we upgrade to 3.0.

SaintDog 09-25-2002 12:37 AM

Updates are released for a reason, most of which is because the bugs they found were not originally found during their tests and members brought them up (for the most part). Some members are very into upgrading, although for minor changes, it is not a big issue to upgrade. vBulletin released these bug fixes and updates in order to fix what found in error.

Not really a big deal to upgrade for most, but if you have hacks installed, it could be a pain (unless like here, you only have 4-5 installed, most all of which are admin side with the exception of the installation and Portal hacks).

Tony G 09-25-2002 01:26 AM

Yes I know they are, but it was a little quick between 2.2.7 and 2.2.8 this time. What I liked about vB was version weren't released ALL the time so we wouldn't have to upgrade week after week. But it doesn't matter.

Yep, lots of mods on my forum so 3.0 will be our next upgrade. :)

**** I was going to do $800 if I only knew sooner :(

Brad 09-25-2002 06:10 AM

im sitting on 2.2.7 right know, dont know if i will go to 2.2.8 as it has more cookie and DB changes and they where hell to upgrade with beyound compare when i went from 2.2.6 -> 2.2.7

Tony G 09-25-2002 06:45 AM

I'm used to Beyond Compare so I may give it a shot. Probably lots of files have been modded though, takes alot of time by the look of it.

Brad 09-25-2002 06:47 PM

im going to 2.2.8 once out of RC after seeing a few issues in 2.2.7 in my own forum and others, ill let you know how the upgrade with via beyound compare.

imported_zephyr 09-26-2002 04:58 AM

better read this...

In conclusion...
Go and upgrade! This release includes important fixes for everyone, and we would recommend that you upgrade as soon as possible. vBulletin 3 is on its way, so keep your eyes peeled on this forum. However, you will only be able to upgrade to vB 3.0 from the latest version of vB 2.2.x so we would recommend that you upgrade to this version for the time being.

Tony G 09-26-2002 06:50 AM

Great, so we have to upgrade to be able to upgrade to 3.0? *Groan*

pixeldude 09-26-2002 10:38 AM

yup :(

Tony G 09-26-2002 11:53 AM

Thats kind of silly IMO, but who am I to argue.

Brad 09-26-2002 11:08 PM

its due to changes in the db schema, you can run 2.2.6 as long as you want, but when you upgrade to 3.0 you will need to run upgrade files on 2.x.x if its not the lastest verson. the upgrade script to 3.0 will only work with the lastest DB schema.

Tony G 09-27-2002 12:55 AM

Well I'll upgrade to the latest 2.2.x when 3.0 comes out considering I'd loose all my mods anyway and then go to 3.0 from that. Why didn't I think of that earlier..

Nothing is perfect, not humans, certainly not a script, especially one that is always having new features added to it

Tony G 09-29-2002 01:33 AM

Ahh he meant the new version.

Yes it's best if they don't get it right just incase things pop up when it's supposed to be right. That means the final release has ridden of anything little that may have been found in a beta.
