How do I add the thread name on top table header?
 

I have a pic to illustrate what I mean, I saw the code on the original mod but it does not show... any ideas on what I need to do?

Saintdog, you have it here, it the top bar above each post, on the top graphic, you have the thread title and when it was posted.... that is what I wonder how you added... I tried and tried but it would not show :(

There is a tutorial to do this floating around here somewhere, I have not personally released it though as I have have had about 30 minutes to myself over the past 2 weeks (I am moving to a new house and it is taking all my time).

Are you sure you're not looking for this template mod? I think this one does the trick. :)

The basic concept is that you have an image in the background of your cell tag, for example <td background="image.gif">, and then the text appears in front of it.

Mashby I went to look at what you suggested but I don't think it's the same? And as for the example, I am still lost :(

In your postbit, you have table that provides the structure for the post and includes the images surrounding the post. I would assume, something like this:
<table>
<tr>
<td>left image</td>
<td>center image</td>
<td>right image</td>
</tr>
</table>

The image for the center table cell should be part of the tag itself and not included in the cell. In other words, you should have <td background="center_image.gif"></td> and not <td>center_image.gif</td>

If the above is correct, then any text that you place inside the cell can be centered and will appear on top of the image. The link I posted earlier descirbes this mod in detail.

So, you should have something similar to this as your center table cell:
<td background="center_image.gif" width="100%" align="center"> <b>$ post[title]</b> $ post[postdate] </td>

Note: the above code has a space between the $ and the rest of the variable so that it will display correctly in this post.

I went to play with the code in DW and added what you suggested and it worked. Thank you!!! Of course, later I realized that it was not working because it had $ thread[title] instead of $ post[title]

Look for "New Posting Templates" in your Admin Control Panel.

Thank you Mashby! Do you know how I go about adding a link to sub forums on the main forum page, so say a forum has 10 subs, how do I add a link to each to the forum description? Thanks for all your help!

Well, you'd have to manually add them, or play with the "Forum Depth" setting in your Admin Control Panel | Options.

I'm looking do something simliar with a private forum I'm working on, but I haven't found the template that will give me the results I want yet. Let me know ifyou find a solution.
