vB Code tag-www
vB Code replacement-[<a href="{option}">{param}</a>]
vB Code example-[www=www.address.com]Link[/www]
vB Code explanation-This simply makes a new look for a URL Display
Use {option} ?- Yes

That's it, your done:)

Dean N Steve 08-02-2002 10:24 AM

wow this is such an amazing template mod :( *growls and walks out of thread*

assassingod 08-02-2002 10:32 AM

I know its not a template mod Mist-Why do you think it says [temp] in the title? Temp=Temporary-My intention was that it was going to be somewhere else if this was in the wrong forum:)

Unless you didnt mean that sarcasticly ignore the above statement:)

ZiRu$ 08-02-2002 11:51 PM

can someone post a example?

mashby 08-03-2002 05:15 PM

What this does ZiRu$ is add special vB code to your forum, so that when someone posts a URL link in a post it's changed. Instead of looking like http://www.interpug.com your links will look like [link]

I do believe that New URL Display should actually be www, and that you have {param} and {option} reversed. ONce I figured those two errors out, it worked perfectly.

mashby 08-07-2002 05:39 PM

Yep, that fixed it! Thanks Lord Nite.

imported_Massie 08-09-2002 12:55 AM

Where is the template vbcode?

mashby 08-09-2002 12:58 AM

It's not a template. Look in your Admin Control Panel. It's a few items up from where your templates are in the navigation on the left. Look for a section called vB Code. That's where you make this change. :)

TvNut 08-30-2002 10:45 AM

assassingod 08-30-2002 09:07 PM

TvNut 09-05-2002 10:30 AM

assassingod 09-05-2002 02:39 PM

Hmm...It should work. I have tested it myself. Ill delete my vBcode, then follow my instructions, maybe I made a mistake

TvNut 09-05-2002 05:12 PM

Well I am not the smart with these things but I tried all sorts of combinations...No Luck yet...can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

vB Code tag
www
vB Code replacement
[<a href="{option}">{param}</a>]

vB Code example
[www=www.address.com]Link[/www]

vB Code explanation
Simple code that makes the url look better

Use {option} ?
Yes

turdboy 09-05-2002 06:56 PM

Well it all looks right but be sure that when your posting the code shloud look like this:
[www=www.spankmaster.com]Link[/www]

Not like this:
[www]www.spankmaster.com[/www] Like other default codes.

assassingod 09-05-2002 07:04 PM

Yes, turdboy is right:)

TvNut 09-05-2002 08:29 PM

[www=www.address.com]Link[/www] is replaced with [ Link] ([<a href="www.address.com"> Link</a>])

that is what it says for a main vb code description...still nothing...

turdboy 09-05-2002 08:47 PM

What's the link to your forum?

TvNut 09-05-2002 08:50 PM

well my site is private but when posting a link do i have to type somehing special of do I just post the link like this...

http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mo...4&pagenumber=3

turdboy 09-05-2002 08:51 PM

You have to type something special which is this: [www=Url]Link[/www]

Replace URL with the link you want.

TvNut 09-05-2002 09:30 PM

Ok that works..my next question is there a way to make the vb do it automatically when someone posts a link?

turdboy 09-05-2002 09:43 PM

If possible that would most likely involve editting the function.php file which we dont do here we only edit templates here.

TvNut 09-05-2002 10:09 PM

Well I see but why would you want to type all that...If you have vb then u post a new reply and hit the http button above where you are typing and label it then put in ur url like this

go here for mor info

but you cant use this in quick replys....

TvNut 09-05-2002 10:40 PM

But you were correct...you have to change the functions.php it was just written and works great...whenever you copy and paste to a link it comes up bold red and says link...dont have to type anything b-4 or after...

very nice

turdboy 09-05-2002 11:13 PM

Thats the main reason why I use this code because I rarely ever go to the thread reply box instead of quick reply.

assassingod 09-06-2002 06:55 AM

Very weird, it works for me.:( Ill keep trying

Buddha 09-12-2002 11:21 PM

not working here either... pretty simple stuff... it's not like i'm entering anything in wrong, it's just a few lines... not like an indepth hack.
it's trying to send me to http://mydomain.com/www.link.com
example: trying to create a link to google, it tries to send me to
http://fulldvdreview.com/www.google.com

i have a question too... why not just use the [url] feature instead?
