My First Request?
 

Hey,

First of all I just signed up to this site and forums and think it is awesome. Evereything about it is so cool. I love it.

Anyways, I just purchased vBulletin 2.2.6 and now its going through the installtion process. I had the installation purchased also. The forums will be for two sites xboxevolved.com and xboxteams.com. We want to make our forums look really nice so it will attract many members. Ive seen all the other xbox sites which have vBulletin(only 2 have them) and they are so plain looking and dull and boring, compared to what I have seen done to some vBulletin boards especially these.

So what I was wondering, was If someone could make our forums look like these. I have absolutely NO knowledge in any of this stuff. Im only 15 also, thats another reason. Some people make it seem so simple, I could never understand it. My friend who is in charge of one of the sites asked someone who designed another board and he was asking for $500-USD? Isnt that alot of money, I think it is, especially for a kid my age. Heck I just payed my dad all the money I earned just for the boards.

uhmm, so does anyone think they can make our boards exactly like these but just different colors. Or something similar. I dont know how much people would charge for this stuff, but like the most I could give you would be like $50-70-USD. It might not seem like alot, but too me it is.

Again the boards havent been installed yet, but they will be very soon. But I just thought it would be better asking before then later.

Not to rag on your, but I don't think you are going to find a good designer that would be willing to do a complete design for so little. After you include the time it takes to do the actual design, consulting with you as to whether or not you like it, modifications, and other such thing; it is not worth it for so little.

Before I will even consider doing design work, I tell the potential client flat out that I have a base fee of $250 (meaning I will not take on work for less than that). While most work I have done runs above that, there have not been any problems.

Again, I say this not to rag on you, but as a designer, I am personally telling you that I would not expect too much for so little.

Saintdog is right about price. If you only have a few bucks in your budget, it's probably best to do the work yourself. The great news is that you have web sites like this one to help you!

I'd just like to correct you, and say that there's 4 that I've seen, TXB, mine, XboxCorp and XboxGate(sucks). But you're right, they're plain. Including mine.. :(
I came in search of some graphical help also, but I can't afford to pay someone that much... It sucks because I'm not too good at it. Best of luck to you in finding some help. I too will continue searching. ;)

I...really should charge more.. I'm doing a setup for $30...but I'm not going all out and creating a masterpiece, just something a little different than default.

True that! lol, I don't charge much for my vBulletin customization services. The lowest is 50 dollars and you get a bit more then what you think of when you think of 50 dollars!

Eh, I usually do vB design for free. I enjoy doing it mostly-Practice. I dont think I would ever charge someone. But if I did start charging, it start at about £30(60$usd)

I personally find that downloading free styles (such as the xbox scheme metioned above) and tweaking them to my personality is the best. I'm not the greatest with graphics or colors and such, so this is a nice compromise. That and it helps me learn more about the workings and such. :)
