THX!!! ..... Ima be the first to test this out bro but I wont actually install it till tomorrow but I will click the install button now. Thx again Marco ;)
No problem. Please post if you find any issues with this.
I alrady coded it some time ago, so i just packaged it now to release. |
I added the avatar via the ACP, however it did not show up in the avatar listing, so I edited another avatar, and changed the filepath to the .swf file, and it worked. I tried upping another swf file to add and encountered the same thing: it was not recognized until I manually edited the filepath of an existing avatar. Any ideas?
Could you please double check your edits, and post exactly what you do. I can not get the result you are describing on my testboard.
I just installed it on a clean vB3.0.7 testboard and i have no problems at all.
After install i did the following: AdminCP->Avatars->Upload Avatar: - Filename: (Select a swf-file from my PC) - Title: Test new flash avatar - Click Upload Now i am returned to the Avatar Manager, where i immediate can see my new Avatar. From UserCP->Edit Avatar i can select it. I really can not find the problem you are describing. |

Users should be able to select any avatar they are allowed to. Users will (in the way they select) not even notice the difference between a Flash and a "normal" Avatar. Uploading new Flash Avatars however is limited to AdminCP for security reasons.
Please define "forum view". Could you PM me a link that has the problem? PS I have no idea if that Opacity hack would have an influence, i guess yes. |
Any idea of where its possible to download flash avatars? Ive done searches but drew nothing.
They are hard to find, but using google you wil find some.
Yeah i tried just got blanks really. ah well
Well i found 1 on the first page of my google search, so i used that for testing. Didn't look to find more.
PS If you have it installed, please click on Install. ;) :D |
I make my own with Macromedia Flash Pro .....pretty easy to do if you have video's on ur cpu
Marco.....lets say regular users that dont have access to tha admin cp want to use flash avatars that they have uploaded to thier own host....how will they be able to use them?
Another problem i see is that i have the " Welcome Hack " enabled & although the avatar shows perfect in threads, it shows up as a read " x " on the forums home page like i have here

The template used there would need to be modified for using flash, youy can have a look at the other template modifications on how to do that. It would probably also need a small modification in the php-file where that welcome template is filled. If you can't handle this yourself, you can contact me by PM and i will see what i can do. (which welcome hack are you using?) |
pm sent bro ;)
Version 1.01 uploaded.
New in this version is optional support for a Flash Avatar if you are using Welcome Hack v1.2 If you already installed version 1.00, only follow the instructions in the seperated install instructions file for Welcome Panel integration. Enjoy |
Marco...for some reason its still sowing up as a red " x " .... cause its not embedding it..so it's not seeing that its an swf.
I will send you a PM on this.
This was totally my fault Marco, I forgot to check the other styles I have & I didnt add this hack to all styles....this works perfect
Nice to see you got it solved. :D
in vb3.0.8 $userinfo[avatarurl] doesn't work, I just use $avatarurl instead and it is fine.
good job Marco |
Thanks for that report deathemperor. If i have time i will look into it, until then i will just link to your post :D
marco! please can u tell me or make it so that users can enter a url for there flash avatar! and make it automatically 150 x 150 in size! like not uploading there swf to the server! but instead ! Placing there link to there flash avatar! on there userCP
Marco, Can you upgrade this one to vB 3.5.0 Gold?
I might do xug, but this one is not high on my list.
May I ask what the status is for 3.5.3 if any? My users are and I would like this very much.
*I am willing to pay for your effort. Hope my request is within the rules...Sorry Brad if it isn't. :) |
I will try to find the time soon to port this and some other of my older hacks. But right now some other things (HackDb, private issues) have my priority.
Thank you MarcoH64 for addressing the status.
For now, I ended up making a quick mod which can be found here.
Will this work with 3.6.7?
