If you lost your forums right now

Would you be able to remember what they all were? Take the challenge and try it before looking at your forum, what percentage of them would you say you got correct?

Actually, I said 80%. The reason is that while I may be able to recall the cat and forum titles I might not be able to recall the exact wording of thier descriptions. I took that into consideration too.

100%. Excluding Area 51 where I am going to use to develop my hacks, I have no forums. :p

Hey, some people dont...

Tony G 05-12-2005 04:03 AM

Wouldn't be that hard to remember them all. I have to remember half a years work for an exam, some even a year's work, now that's more difficult. ;) (However possible!)

Adrian Schneider 05-12-2005 04:36 AM

I'd be happy, I wouldn't have to worry about annoying people bugging me do stuff for them. ;)

I think I would get about 95% (rounds to 100 I guess), if I forgot one, the other members would definitely remember it! This would bring me up to 100%, but people are dishonest, and I'd probably end up creating some totally random forums, bringing me up to 105%.

Paul M 05-12-2005 04:59 AM

100 %, since I have backups ;)

Ditto, however I would remember them anyways.

Chris M 05-12-2005 09:45 AM

Probably 60% - My forums don't get much activity so I only really remember the names of the ones that are mainly busy :p

100% I keep offline records of nearly everything. I have a total list of forum names, catagorys, and discriptions. Copys of all my hacks with the edited files. Even a mailing list that I update once a week so that I can reach my members were my site to go down...agian. I lost my entire site 3 months ago do to a server problem. I had the mailing list then, but not the hacks or other things I keep now.

Reeve of shinra 05-12-2005 01:48 PM

I'd just cry lol

angelicGrace 05-12-2005 02:00 PM

Reeve of Shinra oh I cried and cried and cried when we lost ours. Then got to work making a new one.

Zero Tolerance 05-12-2005 03:51 PM

I'd probably remember 60% of them, my other admins would remember more, however i make database back ups every 3/4 days, so if anything bad happens, my forum won't be set too far back :)

I have to go in and delete my backups about twice a week to make room for more, it's a pain.

I manually download all back-ups via phpMyAdmin, sure it means you gotta do it manually, but the effort pays off if anything bad ever does happen.

Got 5 gigs of space on my hosting account, so No deleting of backups here, But I also have it dropped directly to my computer, all done automatically(https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=78486). So i don't worry about it much anymore.

Seems like a lot of extra work, but i guess you never have to worry now do you? :)

Chris M 05-13-2005 09:20 AM

I've got about 35gb of spare space on the server, but I rarely backup my site - I doubt I'd miss it if it crashed or died or got hacked, since theres about 1 post per week :p

100% with no problem at all - like many others, I have backups and I keep an up to date copy of forum and database on my harddrive :D - learnt my lesson the hard way a year or so ago!
