Is someone working on a similar hack? I purchased a standalone social network script from a programmer on a freelancers site but I'd much prefer a VB hack.

yes. I paid $250 for it but everyday I realize that everything I need can be created or hacked around VB. I'm not a programmer, but VB attracts the most amazing, loyal coders and I think I should be looking here instead.

Yes, it does and illegally at that, All of the copyrights are gone.

Sites can pay for the privilege of removing the copyright. Can't say it's a pirate site based on that fact alone.

hmm.... if you take a look at the journals, it seems he removed AN-Nets copywright replacing it with "SpRnch Journals(Version: 1.0.0)" but its a nice site all in all.

I'm sorry, but it's not anyone's place to play vB police. There are professionals in charge of that.

Don't tell me that if we don't worry the price will go up, that aint true, There is another teenager with mommies credit card everyday that want's to play forum.

Unfortunatly for professionals, that's the market vB caters to and they know how ripped off they are by that same group too. If it was a problem the price would have gone up already.

IMO it would behoove jelsoft to raise the price and write code based on the many suggestions that professionals have given. Examples that work and are proven seem to fall on deaf ears though.

Bugs go ignored for weeks and even months. I don't believe in a low priority bug. I paid and my site don't do what it's supposed to do. Now fix it.

They should also hire some mature support staff. There are too many smart mouth know it alls with curt attitudes on staff. When a question is asked, a question is given as the answer or some vague statement like did you look at X? (Wanye Luke said he'd fix that and did absolutly nothing)

Don't tell a user looking for X to look for X, tell them where it is!

Those things alone would be worth twice the price. But that won't happen, jelsoft has found the teens to be too profitable and not demanding enough that they HAVE to fix bugs in a timely manner.

The internet is big and if jelsoft don't improve, they are ripe to be replaced by better software and support.

What I personally want out of it is the the ability of my members to create their own little bios, add pics of their friends, have their own blog, be able to change the look of parts of their page a bit, but pretty much feel like they got their own little webspace.

I could care less about this company who makes this software. They helped me once or twice but everyone on here even your dam self act so cool n macho.

What ever. I been on dis for just a few months and I put sites together that get 3k a day. Who cares. I dont need to act macho about it.

But users with less do. And people scorned by them react.

Still under development and adding new features each and every day but we have totally revamped the user profiles and usercp which are both inspired by myspace.com in it's look, features and website flow.

you've got myspace completely running on vbulletin! that's how myspace should be. i hate the myspace forums and how it doesn't track post counts or where a user posted, etc.

i hope you plan on sharing your work...i don't really have a community site to use it for (my vbulletin is used for my gaming clan), but i'd buy another vb license for the community. keep in touch, and much props to you...

Yeah I'm sure I'll be sharing just want to get everything ironed out before releasing you know? My intentions was to build something like myspace but as you said better. All the profiles are fully conditional which means if you have something it shows if not, it doesn't.

I want to add html / bbcode in custom profile fields and guestbook comments (as per myspace). I need help with this though and have a few questions out around these forums looking for assistance. If anyone knows how to do it let me know.

I am 95% of the way to a button showing up on users personal gallerys which will allow a profile pic/avatar quickswap just by clicking the button. I have it working on the full image but not on the thumbnails yet that way there is more point in users uploading images as they can be used as their profile pic easy.

More time needs to be spent on the User CP (again totally like myspace to get everything fully working as I want and need.

If you have any suggestions or cool ideas I will see if I can figure out how to do it and add it in. I want this hack to be THE hack that everyone wants and needs on their boards.

The problem with vb isnt the software (forums etc) but the way people sign up.

You need to break up the registration like myspace.
force a photo upload into the registration.

you do that everyone has a photo in turn making more users want to sign up to talk to them.

i agree with T3MEDIA, i know i've seen like a "quick register" around the board here, where you just fill in your username, password and email, and everything else is defaulted, maybe you could go off something like that

something to add... maybe like a file share type thing, where someone could upload a song that they want all their friends to have, and all their friends (people added to their list) could download it. Could limit the # of files, to save server space.

I dont think i want my forums to be based around the "myspace" part of it though... i think that would pull a younger demographic. My site is designed for 18-60+ and i don't think the older crowd would want all the lil ones running it.(i know i dont)

vB Space would allow this functionality, altsounds if you want to work on this together PM me. You can work on a 3.0.7 version, and I can work on the 3.5 version, or whatever we decide.
