Preferred IM

Which instant messaging program do you prefer? If you pick other, state what you think is better, also be sure to explain your answer (well, if you want).

I chose other, becuase i use iChat and AdiumX

TruthElixirX 04-13-2005 01:35 AM

I use AIM, MSN, and Yahoo. I chose other cause its not multiple choice. I liek each one equally. I have different cotnacts on each one and certain features are only avaialble to one.

filburt1 04-13-2005 03:25 AM

Trillian for Windows, iChat for OS X.

BamaStangGuy 04-13-2005 03:56 AM

Aim w/ DeadAim add on

Don't forget about StuffPlugNG for MsgPlus too so you can see when those nasty critters x the window on you ;)

deathemperor 04-13-2005 09:01 AM

YIM, it has all good features.

I tend to use Trillian in windows and on the rare occasion I have *nix installed I run gaim.

Oblivion Knight 04-13-2005 11:43 AM

I use both AIM (5.9) and MSN (7 + mess.be patch + tab removal).

I prefer MSN though.. :)

Got that too. :)

@Punktek, there's an option, IMO if they can't read well enough to notice, they will have to clean it up.

twoseven 04-13-2005 02:51 PM

i choose other because i still use quil and paper for all my chatting needs

Yeah but stuff plug isnt fully operational with v7 :(

Andrew 04-13-2005 03:53 PM

I use Trillian instead of running AIM/MSN/Yahoo all at once - The new version is quite nice :)

I like (Other), Jabber works on all networks, has no nasty tracking, works great with vBulletin where people don't need to have a IM client to chat with other's on different networks! Plus I can send mail, look at mail, send files while browsing the forum and chating at the same time!

MSN on windows and Kopete on linux.... If both were on the same OS, I'd prefer Kopete over msn.

Sonia

Too bad it's the least intuitive form of IM software there is...

Same here. It seems I don't need anything but IRC and AIM though. Barely anyone contacts me on MSN, no one on Yahoo, and my ICQ account is just there to say I have one.

Guy G 04-13-2005 10:13 PM

MSN for teh win!

The fastest and the smallest

filburt1 04-13-2005 10:46 PM

I stopped using MSN years ago when it would go down daily for hours on end. It was a nice simple client though, unlike AIM which is a bloated POS. I compromise by using Trillian given I use both AIM and Yahoo and can use MSN in the future if it doesn't suck now.

TruthElixirX 04-13-2005 11:19 PM

MSN is stable now. Works mroe often than aim for me.

It may be more stable, but it's starting to get a little bloated with the useless gimics..

Most of them can be disabled using available patches though.

Actually every couple weeks MSN goes down for some reason....

Xenon 04-14-2005 07:15 PM

i use miranda, but actually just for icq and irc ^^

smju 04-15-2005 06:09 PM

Trillion is the program I prefer

Allows access to all the given IM systems ivia the one interface.

Reeve of shinra 04-15-2005 06:15 PM

I use AIM with Aimutation. I also use Windows Messenger when I am at work via its SIP protocol. I am not sure if Trillian supports SIP protocol but maybe ill check into it.
