Lock Post Moderation v1.0
Description
This will allow moderators of the forums, s.mods and admins to "Lock" posts. By locking a post, the original member who posted that post is then unable to edit/delete that post (unless that member has moderation permissions). Pointless you may think? Perhaps, but some staff want to keep posts intact after editing them for whatever reason, and instead of locking the thread, just stop the member from editing out whatever the staff member has modified/added, this can be accomplished by using this modification. Features: - Uses Phrases (I know!! I finally used them!! =O) - Ability To "Lock/Unlock" Posts via "Edit Post" page. - Error Message Returned If Post Is Locked & No Moderation Permissions Upon Trying To Edit/Delete The Post It's a simple addition, but affective, maybe it will come in handy, who knows, screenshots below, enjoy :) - Zero Tolerance |

I am currently using vb builtin option that disappears the edit after x days except for mods. How is yours different?

I meant by that the edit button. With that gone, it's like post is locked, no?

Well without the edit button or access, you can't do anything yes, but this doesn't activate after x days, it allows staff at any time to lock/unlock posts.

very cool. quick and flawless install.
i been looking for something like this for a while now, good work! :D |
Is there anyway, is a s. admin locks the post, no mods/admins can post ijn it aswell?
|
Two features I would definitely like to see in this hack:
1. Lock all posts in a thread option for mods/admins in "Thread Tools". So all posts in a thread and future threads are locked automatically. This is very helpful for competitions where users are asked to answer a question, or to predict a result of the game, etc. 2. "Save Changes" button doesnt work right now when you click on "Lock post" option. You have to click on the "Lock the Post" button. If we can get it to work with "Save Changes" button, it will definitely save me time. Right now, I have to click on edit message, clear out the bad stuff, click on "Save Changes" button, then click on edit again to Lock the post. So have to click twice. I hope to see these options in the future versions. Great hack, keep it up. |
After installing this, any edits I make to posts do not take effect (even when unlocked) - any idea what is up?
|
this is useless, close post = same as lock, so what the point of use it

Lock = "close" a post. |

I think this would be great for admin, to use after edit button is gone, to prevent mods from editing post.
|
one question, is it possible to make this a feature you can use while editing like the close thread/pin thread (where you just tick a box and it does it) instead of having to edit the post, save changes, come back to the edit screen, lock the post, save again.
you know what i mean? i had a crack at adding this myself but failed.. if anyone wants to suggest anything (im not much of a coder) i just simply added this to the newpost_threadmanage template. PHP Code:
if anyone can fix this so it works, i would be very gratful :) |
