Description: This hack will allow you to create some awards, and giving it to members for some reason.

TherewillbeaAwardmanagementsysteminACP,whereyoucan AddAwards(withsmallandbigiconsforawards,anddescrip tion);giveawardtosomemember(byuseridorusername),ta keawardawayfromsomemember.

The awards will be displayed in member's profile, and/or postbit/signature
Award time will also be included

The system in under developing, so features can be requested. If I see the feature useful, I will try to include.

I've tried implementing AnimeWebby's mod a couple of times on my test forums (3.0.7), but came across several bugs. Probably because it hasn't been properly updated since it's 3.0.0 release.

Actually I installed AnimeWebby's hack months ago, never have a chanceto use it. somehow, got interested in the idea again, install again,and ... now ... NOT yet another hack :D

Looks great, I really like that you offer a way to add awards that doesn't require access to editting users.

Looks great so far mtha..I know you kinda touched on this in the other thread, but anything you can do to simplify the installation would be appreciated. Even if it's just cutting down the number of files that need to be edited over AnimeWebby's hack.

Another suggestion..a time based award. I award many of my members for subscribing to my forum. Would be great if the award would expire (dissappear) if they are no longer members of the subscribers group.

will try to make it less pain. I dont like having to edit too much eitherm but what need to be done still ... you know :D

hmm, interesting. the award time will be recorded in the database, and I dont know if "expire" time be critical.

Depends on purpose, there might be a expire time, or just a cron job as an add-on. Right now, I wont worry about this yet.

How are you going to be presenting the awards?

Will it be the same way that the current vb hack works or in the same fashion the phpbb system works?

Reason being I dont' think the vbversion does a very good job at all it's highly impractical.

The way the existing vb hack works would mean and insanely long list of names and medals, that would go on for ever, whereas the PhPbb version does a far better job of displaying the information.

Obviously what is of interest to many of us is that the hack be easy to install/uninstall or be version non-dependent (next to impossible) so it does need to have an uninstall option, but also that there is a cohesive format for displaying medals / awards.

I am actually happy to make a decent dontation via paypal to you if you can ensure that it works out in this fashion as opposed to producing a product with no uninstall option and a poor display option.

I am also aware of others who would make contributions to the hack and still obviously allow it for free use to others if we can be sure it's going to tick all the boxes.

What do you think?

Well, I dont like the way of showing awards that the current vB hackdoes either. I guess I will make it more like the other one, but mytesting steps might include the old fashion too :D


Just because that hack manage awards different. my award database is more or less the same as the phpBB one,


Will make install/uninstall script after when I finish all otherthings. There is NO way avoid editing files. The install/uninstallscript will only make changes in the database. If you really want tohave the files changed automatically, contact me, and I will show youhow to do it (after when I release). I myself actually have almost allmy hack implemented "automatic".

I will go in the way that phpBB display for the hack. As I stated inthe first post, there're two things (from phpBB) that I will hold offare award category (which, I think, will soon be implemented), andaward moderator (which I dont think important in vB)
I myself really want it to be release, in some use-able form first, andget feed back for more advance development. You wont be able to makedetail suggestion until when you see it, you know.

:) it depends on if all the boxes are good. if it's good. I surely will implement.

I quited using the current vb3 award hacks because it modifys alot alot of vb3 files which I don't like.
