SMS system using a paid messaging provider
 

Having looked at existing hacks offering text message (SMS) functionality. I'd like to suggest one for event reminders, distribution lists and PM notification using paid messaging provider such as MBLOX .

Text messaging's a fantastic way to add value to a site and could represent a good revenue stream. I'd be more than happy to pay for proper coverage if it included a credits system using paid subscriptions...

I am also thinking about paid subscription via sms, because paypal is just begining and is not popular yet and it has very limited functionality, so i do not expect it to be popular in the near future...

Do you want this as a free Hack or as paid work?

Btw: Interface specifications for the SMS Gateway would be necessary, and some more details what you want exactly.

Buying Paid Subscriptions via SMS is possible, I am doing this (well, kinda) on my Board.

im totally interested in this mblox sms hack. id be willing to pay for it for sure. sms messages to users is a great potential revenue source.

If somebody can prodive interface descriptions for a paid SMS provider, it should not be too difficult to create appropriate payment APIs.

The payment process is already working and can be used now... there is no need to set up another carrier as they cover most of the world, im in the process of intergrating it so if a person doesnt pay, it demotes them again.

Wow yeah. I understand it costs money to a provider for a set number of messages allowed to be sent, but if there was a way to have paying members use this and perhaps have a set amount deducted each time they are sent a message.

I think it would be great for people who absolutely want to know when they get new messages, or replies to their topics, etc.

Bump bump.. want to know if there is a hack for charging members through sms for forum subscription. If you are a programmer and know how to do this or you already got the script I would be willing to pay for this.

I got a good sms procesor just need the hack/code on my forum to get rolling. :)
