User-selectable PM notification type (flashing or popup)
This hack is based on this one (which is incomplete IMHO):
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....28&postcount=6 I have refined it to be user-selectable via a custom profile field. The attached TXT file details the instructions for installing. (Rating: Easy) You should select one of the attached IMG files (or make your own). Note that this is my first hack, so I have exactly ZERO idea how to post it here (any insight would be MOST welcome!) But I've tested it, and it works great. |
This template mod, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....28&postcount=6, already works perfect. ;)

Whenever I hear user-selectable I hear custom profile fields.

hey hey.. this custom profile fields are become too popular... we will have to face it, deactivate the entire thing in the next release, isn't it ?!
lol... hey, kidding! btw, i hate these custom things |
bump - FYI

great idea- thanks for sharing

this doesn't work with vb3.0.7 ?? i've check the files ten times but nope .... it's something i'm doing wrong i'll get back to you if i ever get it working
|
Yeah, it should work fine. It's such a TINY little change...
Make sure you create your custom field and plug its name into the code, and upload a gif image (or create your own) and change the gif-filename reference in the code fragment to match your filename. |
hi,
now it look like working but the image isn't flashing and so small i can hardly see the image  look at the attached screengrab and you see what i mean |

not working, My field area is field5 so do i replace it with fieldX in template and global.php both? or just global.php
|
Does this work w/ vb3.5? I've installed it, and not getting it to work. I get the Flashing notification just fine...but popups aren't working.
my fieldname is "field8"...this has been put both into the navbar template and global.php. When someone selects "Pop-Up"...the flashing doesn't appear, but there is NO pop-up notification whatsoever. You can test this for yourself at: www.onlinedebate.net Name: Llama Pass: Llama |
Okay, I've got to re-engineer this....
|
is this working with 3.5.3?
|
Be nice if you made it NOT an option. Yet allowed users to be able to do BOTH. Cuz I personally like the popups, but occasionally are in the middle of something and say NO to the popup, yet I'd like to still have the flashing "Hey stupid read your new PMs" stuck in my face.
