Dating Sites Using vBulletin

I have been developing dating sites for 3 years now and owned almost all of the best scripts available but i still have to see a dating site that uses vbulletin as a forum. 3 of the sites i owned all uses phpbb. I wonder if there are members here who own a dating site using vbulletin. If you have, could you please post the url and let me know what dating script you used for that? I'm just interested to see which dating script easily integrates with vb's user db. You can call this post a survey.

Thanks and regards,
Afterglow

hmmm well lovingyou.com uses vb

afterglow 03-10-2005 03:36 AM

thanks for sharing. i checked the url you posted but i found out the forums and the dating site are separate. the forums are lovingyou.com owned but the dating site is an affiliate program being run by epersonals.

i'm looking for a dating site that has only one login for both the forums and the dating site.

regards,
afterglow

Hello Afterglow,
It's not a dating site, but we created a penpals script that integrates VB users.
http://www.penpals.la

I think it really doesn't matter what script you use because almost anything can be integrated with VB and that's why we love it.

Best Regards...

Is that penpals script available?
These people claimed that they've integrated, but I personally don't trust them

Hi Lionel, I've responded to your pm.

Reeve of shinra 05-04-2005 09:44 PM

I was looking at the screen shots for the admin demo of http://www.aewebworks.com/demo.htm and it looks like it has some nice features that would be nice to have on vbulletin.

Brad 05-04-2005 10:03 PM

What exactly goes into one of these sites? I do not see how it would be difficult to modify vBulletin to manage one, but then again I have never been on the admin side of one of these sites.

So far I know it requires the following:

New set of profile fields/page in the user cp to list information about yourself
New set of profile fields/page in the user cp to list information about what you are looking for in a person
Ability to upload multiple profile pictures in the usercp
- A way to manage all this new info in the admin cp

Ability to search for people based on gender/age.

'Photo-gallery' like script to display a quick overview of profiles

Is that it or is there a lot more I'm missing? :)

Lionel 05-04-2005 10:03 PM

be careful with these people. Besides the fact that they are very expensive, they want you to sign a form where you agree never to badmouth them or complain about them (I read that as them asking for a license to stick it to you), and you cannot get a straight answer from them. A bunch of aggressive liers. But granted, script looks nice.

On the example above, they claim that they can have their site as front and automatically signup new members into vb. That's easy. But integrating existing members..... different story

there is also a nice template mod at vbtemplates:

Reeve of shinra 05-05-2005 12:10 AM

well I didnt like the fact that they didnt have a real admin demo.

The next site I launch is actually going to be a dating site, Ive done my share of research and I was considering going with them, however, after my research, I found that people found their support very lagging and their code very messy with a lot of errors!

bada_bing 10-13-2005 05:22 PM

This is an interesting topic and lets keep it going. I am also in the market of looking at a good turn-key dating script and from my reasearch all the ones out there are poor responders and very scary to trust but aewebworks.com appears to be the best as far as features go but they never answer with a straight answer? HATE THAT.

Anyone have any experiance with dating scripts or anyother software out there that is better then AEwebworks? What are you all using?

Reeve of shinra 10-14-2005 12:21 AM

im still open to suggestions on good integrated scripts as well.

Looks amazing!

bada_bing 12-14-2005 02:11 PM

Thank you.. Still some work to do with the design and features. I know have the VB groups working with the dating script and latest post for the forum showing on the main dating script....

Do you plan to release?

PennylessZ28 12-15-2005 01:40 AM

I'm developing a social networking site www.757Forums.com

I plan on opening the site to the public soon once it's all completed.

Is this something that you've created on your own or are you running a pretemplated software? I'd be interested in doing something very similar to where your at, just looking to see how to put it together.

I think he's using this: http://www.aewebworks.com/

But the vb integration is by far amazing! How do you get that good? I don?t even know how to start

Lionel 12-15-2005 08:36 PM

you can't really integrate with http://www.aewebworks.com/ if you have an existing website. What they do, you register with the dating site and they simultaneously register you with vbulletin. And they disable all vb registrations, password changes etc...

Yep, I asked them if I buy their script and I want the registration system will be in Vbulletin , not in Aedating registration , and so users profiles, user groups will be in Vb users system. They said they can do it with an extra charge of 650 USD, plus the script 690 USD so it will be ended up with 1340 USD to have the script running on the site and the user system will be in Vb system.
Think about it, it would be so expensive just to add a few hacks such as extra fields in register pages and so on....

bada_bing 03-03-2006 02:19 AM

Hey Everyone I figure I would ask here first before I venture the sale somewhere else. I have decided to sell my AEWEBWORKS License as I am going another direction
If you are interested please PM me as I am selling full access to the AE Site for full updates, control panel and the script. They are selling the script for $690 as that is what I paid about 4 months ago but releasing it much cheaper.

Thanks

Joining this thread late...

Dating Box by e-Marvel integrates completely with vBulletin, and uses one logo in.

If you're looking for more of a social networking script, rumor has it that Alicia by the phpIzabi folks will integrate with vBulletin.

I'm waiting on Alicia before making my decision.

Kurisu 03-31-2006 04:16 PM

Well, Dating Box costs 550$ too...

And PHPIzabi doesn't look that good imho...

Compared to other scripts out there, that's a fair price. It had good features, and functions well in a high use environment.

By the time you hack and mod out another application, you will have easily spent that much.

It's decent, imo. But as I said...I'm waiting for Alicia, before I make my decision.

yinyang 03-31-2006 05:45 PM

what about: http://www.tufat.com/s_free_dating_system.htm

tufat is where you get flashchat and flashchat is easily integrated into vb. perhaps this can also be integrated without too much trouble?
