fully modded vbulletin how much would you pay?

Hi

Dunno why im asking this but.How mucgh would you pay for a vbulletin forum with every single hack installed and had a fast server and everything was perfect?
just curious to see your views
i no its not realy possible but interested in your views

AN-net 02-28-2005 09:22 PM

well it isnt possible for public retail because EULA with jelsoft but for such a hacked board(which is ridiculous to have every hack installed) i would say in the thousands since there are tons of hacks released.

Paul M 02-28-2005 09:43 PM

It's a daft question - you cannot have "every single hack installed".

For vB I would pay whatever the current price for an owned licence is.

The server would depend on the specs of the box - if the forum only has a few members then it will run fast on a £10 year hosting account.

how long would i get the server for? and what about the bandwidth? would i get shell access?

ok now let me think

about 500 but i'm a tight barstaff.

Dean C 02-28-2005 10:06 PM

I'd charge the exact amount it would cost to purchase Bavaria

I would care more about the forum activeness instead of the hacks it has.

Thug 02-28-2005 10:16 PM

ok well say it had unlimited bandwidth 500000active members fast as lightning

shadiguy1 02-28-2005 11:20 PM

this thread is retarded. lol

what if i won the lottery

amykhar 02-28-2005 11:36 PM

Nothing. Much of the joy for me of running a board is coding my own modifications and building up my topic and my traffic. A pre-built board wouldn't be any fun for me at all.

I wouldn't consider it retarded.Thestatement about having every single hack installed is bogus, butquoting the price of a forum isn't retarded at al. I know ofsomepeople that buy forums and then try to generate revenue off ofthem. Ifsomeone offered me the right price (a pretty penny) I wouldsell mine.

EDIT: Damn WYSIWYG bug...

Who cares what's installed? Stuff like user activity levels is more interesting.

My site has technically no PHP code modifications installed and it is worth thousands. A site that has a million code modifications installed (a very bad idea) could be nearly worthless because the vast majority of them do absolutely nothing to help the community (who cares what the weather is or the day's top posters?).

Agree, I'd rather have a big board with no hacks installed. And if I have a board with good traffic I won't care for hacks.

I wont be interested in selected a fully modded vbulletin with each and every hack installed :).. Not all hacks are required by every board..

Cannot determine a pricing based on the details given.

i was working based on the idea that you were going to start a forum from scratch ala just like most people buying vB for the first time.

Gio~Logist 03-02-2005 10:20 AM

I don't know but from what i hear, to many hacks decrease the board's optimization and performance. If you have every hack installed i can just imagine how many queries you have and how slow the site is. I wouldnt even want to buy it in the first place.

magnus 03-02-2005 07:23 PM

That depends.. does it come with a trained monkey in a box who will upgrade to the latest vBulletin as it's released, as well as re-apply every hack previously installed and any new hacks since the initial install?

If so.. screw the forum, how much for the monkey? :p

Thug 03-02-2005 07:34 PM

lol hahaha

DavidL 03-02-2005 07:48 PM

And having to reinstall the hacks everytime you upgrade vB would be a pain in the rear. Worthless, I only use what I need :)

Thug 03-02-2005 07:56 PM

ok so if it had all hacks and it upgrades on its own

We should be able to cut our upgrade time in half when the mutant-Guinea Pigs are released from beta DNA testing. The only problem is they are bigger then the hampsters so we gatta spend more money on food :(

Thug 03-02-2005 10:41 PM
