What does the hack do?

This simple hack uses Image Shack ( A free image hosting website ) built in uploading tool as a quick way to host a user's signature on Image Shack.

Install Process:

(1) File Edit
(1) New Template
(1) Template Modification
(1) One vB Phrase

Install Time: Quick, Less then 5 Minutes

There is a typo in the template addition, it should be quickhost_bits instead of quicksighost_bits. Other than that, works like a charm!

Yes, but that hack host's the sig on the actual board this hack has Image Shack provide the hosting. ;)

Yep i'd prefer it if the image wasn't hosted on my own server it just increases server usage

yes they get help from their ads but the less you have to host on your own server the better
I've seen other image hosting companies and they have bandwidth restrictions and even charge for their service
Image shack is among their best i've seen

Yes, that's the main reason why I made this hack. There is no point to increase my bandwith for a signature. ;)

Sorry, I was just explaining the advantages of my hack over the one you provided. I didn't mean to advertise.

EDIT: I also removed the name of the hosting company from the title, as it's really not needed and may seem like advertising.

Could we change the 'host it' button to say 'Host It' and 'patience during upload' to 'Have patience during the upload..'? I'm quite anal about correct grammer and the such, and couldn't find anywhere to change it.

Its odd that you would say that, considering you spelled grammar wrong ;)

However, you can necessarily change what the template says...as its actually being hosted from imageshack's site :)

Well I looked at it after you put this link out and tried that one since I'm friends with the guy who made it. Although it seems quite impressive it had big errors in it. Thus far the support for the thread hasn't been coming through very well. There is still coding erros in the tables and so on which he hasn't fixed.

This one worked for me and its great :)

EDIT: Besides that color error which is still there heh

Here's the solution to your problem.

In the quickhost_bits template find

In the actual source of the the iframe a.k.a

Change the 111111 to whatever hex code used for text on your forum. Sorry I didn't mention this before.

Danny, i wondered whether you could improve this imageshack signature uploader to include Size dimension limit, how many images permitted, whether text is allowed and if so how many lines.

There was another signature mod but i liked the idea of members uploading to imageshack so i choose this.

Well that would be a different hack entirely. I, or any other person, have no control on how many images are allowed to be hosted onto image shack.

What was the other mod, if it isn't involved with hosting a sig it should be compatible with this one.

But it has an upload sig.

Your mod instead has an image shack upload.

But i'm sure that even if the image is hosted on image shack, it won't let them use it if the sig mod says you can use anything over the set dimensions.

It's not good policy bantering at everyone of the members that ther sigs are too big x_x; imho.

Well since my hack only provides hosting and that you want to have sig limits also. I think LimeWire's hack would be better IMHO, since I don't have the time to incorperate it into my hack.

thanks danny this hack is awesome! do you think that in the future there might be an expansion in this hack that will allow for member picture host/ post image host/ etc? like something that's not just limited to sig hosting.
