Show Spiders Online on ForumHome
This one is a pretty easy hack to install. It shows any spiders that are indexing your site in the what's going on box on the forum home page. Please note. It will only show spiders as spiders and not as guests if it also shows them as spiders and not as guests on online.php.
This hack has been tested on 3.0.6 and 3.0.7. It's not hard to install, but it does have one drawback. If you have a portal page that shows online users, you will have to edit it yourself to incorporate the changes. Consider yourself warned. At this point, any problems reported are installation errors. If things don't work for you, make sure you have completed all the steps as written. As I have upgraded to 3.5, I am withdrawing support for this older version. All the bugs are gone and any issues are now installation errors. FAQ 1. I get this: [ARG:3 UNDEFINED] spiders on my portal page. As noted above, because of the large number of portals, you're on your own for integrating them into thie hack. 2. I get this: [ARG:3 UNDEFINED] spiders on other pages. 1. Make sure you have done all of the code changes correctly. 2. Make sure you have updated your style to use the modified templates. If not, that error will occor. German Translation provided by General. Marvellous!
Woah. I didn't even notice this was in the vb2 forum. Just installed it and was away laughing. :) |
hmm is this not a bad idea?
i had over 500 spiders on my site once , and it happens often now so will displaying that many not overload something or cause any problems ? |
or does it only show the name of one spider ?
|
Nice one, amy. ;)
Is there a way to show to amount of spiders online also? |

oops. Wrong forum. I'll move it. I keep forgetting there is a vb2 beta forum still.
Regarding the number of spiders, I have it showing only one instance of a given spider. Therefore, it doesn't count how many spiders are on at a time. Why? Because I liked the way it looked on my board. If more than three of you want me to do another version that shows every single instance of them and keeps a count, I'll do that for you. |
Maybe have it do the amount behiond the spider name? Like this:
MSNBot (2) I'd also like to have the amount in the line that says (1 member and 3 guests) Like this: (1 member, 3 guests and 2 spiders) if it is possible. ;) |
Works great. Thanks.
|
Finally.... someone has done it. Thanks!
Installing 4 sure. |

Good Stuff...
Are you useing a cloured whos online hack or is that a admincp option? |
that is in the admincp when you manage a usergroup you can set the HTML setup of the user group
|
How would one turn this off of invisible mode?
|
How do I get other bots to be listed such as Yahoo and MSN. At present only Google shows up as a bot. Is there another MOD for this.
|
you have to add their strings into your admincp in the "whos online" thinger in vBulletin options

Does this only work with 3.0.6? I'm running base 3.0.3 init.php patched to 0.5 as I've got a load of hacks installed and so am putting off upgrading. I've installed as per the instructions but no change, so have I answered my own question?

thank-you amykhar ^^ i love it
and i would like to see more features as well |
I've got it installed - it shows in the Who's Online section that it's a bot, but on the Currently active users on the front page shows x users and x guests with only the member names. Must be a 3.0.3 thing.

I am using 3.0.3 and it works OK. |
problem appears to be the syntax...not the mod.
try this in line -> SELECT DISTINCT user.username, session.useragent,user.userid there sud be a space between "session.useragent," AND "user.userid" like below: SELECT DISTINCT user.username, session.useragent, user.userid Quote:

I have the requested changes made. I am just testing them - need to wait for more spiders to hit my site.
|
If you have spiders on your site now and are willing to try out raw code , please follow the directions in this text file AFTER you have installed the original hack.
I have not been able to verify that this works because the spiders aren't crawling in hordes at my site today. If you install this test code and need help, you must be willing to share your forum url and have the who's online page available to guests. I can't debug otherwise. it wont let me edit the phrase O_o
