I was thinking of getting an application made for vbulletin, it goes in your taskbar and alerts you of any new pm's. I would give it to all my members Does this sound good? :squareeyed:

You'd probably have to allow connections to your database from anywhere for that though...

I'm not sure if there are any security issues involved with that.

You don't need to code an app for that, at least on windows.

All you need to do is supply a .php file with minimal html output and add a new toolbar in windows. When you add the toolbar type in the address to your custom php file and the html will be displayed on the windows taskbar.

I'm sure mac has a similar way to do this, but I don't use osx so I could'nt tell you exactly how to do it.

Thats the easy way, but if you do have an app coded to do this I would be intrested. :)

Yea I think I am most likely having the app built. It would be universal where the user types the url to the vbulletin and then there username and password. Well thats how I plan it to be. :smoke:

didn't the newest update of vbulletin disallow submitting of forms etc. from external sites?

Well, that wouldn't make such a difference if it were an application that interfaces directly with the database.

Would be a very cool little app for any board users, as long as there are no potential security issues :)

It would be a great idea if somehow it were universal. Say each vbulletin board you're a member on each private message will alert you with a popup.

This would be entirely possible with a Firefox extention - I'd like to see it like the yahoo email notifier

sprnch.com has a full program that keeps buddies checks your notes and lets you search the member database from Vb in a kazaa style.

it is java based works on mac and windows.
