User's Notepad
User's Notepad - v0.9
It's like the AdminCP notes, only every user has one in their UserCP. It wasn't inspired by the vB2 version (which I was unaware of until AzhriaLilu pointed it out), I simply missed having it after moving from Invision to vBulletin :) I have tested this on my own (live + test) boards (3.0.5 and 3.0.6), and am releasing this only as beta to get feedback. Pending any bugs this will be released in the same form as v1.00 about a month from now. |
When staff use usernotes to comment on members, for instance to log notes for other staff members about spammers, it's not always an option to give the users access to their own usernotes.
Seeing as you wouldn't want to start a thread for each annoying member in your admin forums, usernotes are simply that: an admin tool. When you still want to give users a way to keep track of half-finished posts, urls, etc. -> this hack comes into play. |

took me 2 minutes to install and it works like a charm! |
Yea Yoyo, works.
Wonder how hard it would be to add save areas, ie, a list of note saves to this. |

Yes, multiple notes, with a limit, as Yoyo suggests. Usually when I have notes, I have a lot of them. And I can never remember where I put them, lol...
Nice hack, move it out of beta. Works great. |
I think that would make it into a whole new hack, indeed :)
That or a severely upgraded version of this one. If an admin just wants to limit this to certain usergroups and sizes, it would make sense to do so in a newer version of this hack. Sharing notes is an interesting idea too, and this could indeed be a Shared Notes section in the UserCP. On RPG boards this would reduce the number of PMs going back and forth when collaborating on a post. As for an admin viewing people's notepad, I'm not sure this is such a good idea. They can always run an SQL query if they're curious, but I'm recicent about facilitating snooping. Usergroup Permissions: - Allowed notes: Yes/No - Allowed notes size: [00000] characters - Allowed notes sharing: Yes/No - Allowed notes number: [10] notes This would move notes into a seperate section. If you're allowed to share notes, then each of the notes (assuming you're allowed multiple) will have its own permission fields for the user to fill out: Note 1 of 10 < 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 > [ Note note note ] Can view [username1,userid2] Can edit [username2,userid3] [Save] |

PS- I agree about not facilitating an admin to snoop more... just tossing out ideas/thoughts on a great hack! |
I think so too. I'll give it a go after the Quick Account Switch -> v1.3 update :)

Nice hack. I installed this on my vb 3.0.3 board and it seems to be working fine! :)
I completely agree about facilitating admin snooping! |
Click Install ;)
but, It would be possible to adapt it so that it have a link directly in the postbit there so that there is a popup window which opens with the note has the inside ?? |
Hey Ianomed, I would need your help :)
I would like to know if you could say to me the way of adapting your hack so that instead of that this is in the page " usercp ", she is in a page external has vBulletin, of the kind " notes.php " ?? By using this hack for example  |
