VB-O-GRAM ....... Site Promotional Tool

And you thought that greeting cards had died ....... think again! ... lmao

This hack will add a not-so-unique feature to you community in the form of a great promotional tool

It can display both normal images and flash files (.swf)

1 file edit
1 template edit
2 new db table

This hack uses and includes a copy of the [HIS] Hack Installer System (Build 3)
released by Link14716 and can be found here --> https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=71542

The admin area here is basicly a copy of the vB Jukebox.
You can upload all your images and flash files from your browser :)

I have not included any permissions so both your members and guests can send -O-GRAMS to promote your site

in the pic you will see that i called mine Trafix-O-GRAM .... however in the admin options you can call it whatever you like

ahhh what the hell here is the demo .... go look for yourself ..... but you cant register as it is a dev forum but i think it should be fine your your testing. i only have the one flash file and i have used some crappy images to test with. http://srv01.orpbus.com/~admin152/up...ain&imageid=12

I will reserve the first few posts to add links at a later stage to member flash file contributions ;)

OOOPS .... nearly forgot .... Please click INSTALL

UPDATE ... fixed install quirie

Looks really awesome, will try this out tomorrow.

Question, are you able to edit the images and flash files in the admincp?

trafix 01-23-2005 06:28 AM

yep ... you can edit and add new images in the admin ... you can even upload them from your browser :)

Your instructions say to use vbogimages as the folder name, yet that isn't what is called by the scripts..its actually vbogram . :)

Aside from that, nice idea! (I just wish I could work out how to stop things overflowing on my fixed width styles.)

trafix 01-23-2005 06:53 AM

will ..... hehe ... you can call it whatever you like ... just make sure the folder name is in the admin options ;)

yoyoyoyo 01-23-2005 07:11 AM

amazing job! I will install this one later in my test forum, and see how she flys :D

docvader 01-23-2005 07:15 AM

You're like the energizer bunny with your prolific hacks, LOL. And, btw, the email I sent via your system got snagged by my Norton Internet Security as spam.

I love it.

Will install tomorrow. Got suggestions for some flash files that we can use?? Such as a library of stuff that we can choose from?

NuclioN 01-23-2005 08:42 AM

Trafic you are amazing. :) This looks great, will test it later this day

Floris 01-23-2005 08:59 AM

Once again you smile at trafix and he performs. Good job my friend. Nice hack.

Intex 01-23-2005 09:06 AM

Nice work trafix.

/me adds to install list.

trafix 01-23-2005 09:25 AM

Thanks for all your head swelling comments ....

A wasnt sure if this sort of hack would be used and e-greetings are sort of old hat now .... i think we could bring them back into fashon :)

ENJOY!

agiacosa 01-23-2005 10:44 AM

Silly question, but is this kinda like a refer site to friend hack?

trafix 01-23-2005 10:46 AM

i havnt seen that hack ...... but thay are both site promotional tools ;) ... and we can all do with more of that.

this hack is based on e-greetings cards

TwinsX2Dad 01-23-2005 03:19 PM

Before I go and hose anything up, I just wanted to clarify something here - I run the installer, THEN create the vboimages folder and the adminscp/index.php edits and the template edits?

Maybe I need to have some more coffee before I try this? :)

actually, when a member sends it does it include their referal link so they get the credit if a new member joins?

yoyoyoyo 01-23-2005 03:32 PM

Here are a few suggestions:
1) Word censor/spam controls for outgoing e-mail, even if there are no censors on the forum :)
2) Limit threshold (only 1 VB-O-GRAM every so many seconds/minutes per user), could even have different settings for different usergroups.
3) Option to save a copy of all outgoing VB-O-GRAMS to a specified file/location for later review (could be a security issue, and could be abused, but could also be used in case of someone sending death threats via your VB-O-GRAM, for example). Or if not saving a copy - save a list of the to & from e-mail and title & time/date stamp.
4) Option to ban certain addresses or domains from receiving VB-O-GRAMS (such as whitehouse.gov, etc., for the same reasons noted above)

docvader 01-23-2005 04:56 PM

Trafix,

Stayed up all night looking for swf files to include in this potentially wonderful communication method.

My girlfriend hates you.

Anyway, tried to install it this morning, and got this during install:

Quote:

But, with perseverance and fortitude, I continued. The link in the nav bar causes this, not surprisingly:

lol...

( I'll dig around in your install file and try to install this manually...)

When trying to insert this query
Quote:

CREATE TABLE `vbogram_card` (
`vbogram_cardid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`sendername` varchar(100) NOT NULL default \'\',
`senderuserid` int(11) NOT NULL default \'0\',
`senderemail` varchar(100) NOT NULL default \'\',
`imageid` int(11) NOT NULL default \'0\',
`message` mediumtext NOT NULL,
`receiveremail` varchar(100) NOT NULL default \'\',
`receivername` varchar(225) NOT NULL default \'\',
`cardid` varchar(20) NOT NULL default \'0\',
`datestamp` int(11) NOT NULL default \'0\',
`reply` tinyint(4) NOT NULL default \'0\',
PRIMARY KEY (`vbogram_cardid`))
I get this response:
Quote:

Got any suggestions?

I know that it is extremist thinking, but I deal alot with computer security issues for a living, so when I see something like this I naturally notice such things. Many such services have been discontinued due to abuse on sites, or they install limits and filters to avoid these nuisances, so I was just trying to add my .02 to the hack, and was hoping that Trafix might be able to add in a few extra options in the ACP to cover these issues, since this is a great addition to a site!

( I'll dig around in your install file and try to install this manually...)

some servers dont use mysql database on localhost or something like that
that makes problem with the install
its happend to hacks i coded also on 1 of my servers
so ill recommand that you will user the phpmyadmin tool that supplied with host and to insert this query
[SQL]CREATE TABLE `vbogram_card` (
`vbogram_cardid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`sendername` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`senderuserid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`senderemail` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`imageid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`message` mediumtext NOT NULL,
`receiveremail` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`receivername` varchar(225) NOT NULL default '',
`cardid` varchar(20) NOT NULL default '0',
`datestamp` int(11) NOT NULL default'0',
`reply` tinyint(4) NOT NULL default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (`vbogram_cardid`))

[/SQL]

i removed all of \'\' cuse its uses on php thats why you didnt secced to enter this query manualy
try again with the query i gave u

docvader 01-23-2005 07:07 PM

OK, thanks. First table was apparently in there, second table worked via your method.

Now, I'm getting errors with these queries:
Quote:

ALTER TABLE '.TABLE_PREFIX.'language ADD `phrasegroup_vbogram` MEDIUMTEXT NOT NULL

INSERT INTO '.TABLE_PREFIX.'phrasetype (phrasetypeid, fieldname, title, editrows) VALUES (885, 'vbogram', 'vB-O-Gram', 3)
I don't think its happy with the table prefix the way it's written. (I have no table prefix, as I upgraded from a 2.xx board a while back)

Thanks for the help. I'd like to get this to work.

If you are trying to run these queries manual, and don't use a prefix, change them like this:
[sql]ALTER TABLE language ADD phrasegroup_vbogram MEDIUMTEXT NOT NULL;

INSERT INTO phrasetype (phrasetypeid, fieldname, title, editrows) VALUES (885, 'vbogram', 'vB-O-Gram', 3) [/sql]

did you find any nice flash files?

PS your not the only one that get thrown in the doghouse if you sit infront of the pc too long at night

trafix 01-23-2005 08:42 PM

I uploaded the waterfall swf zip file to the firat post ... you only need to upload vodopad.swf from the zip

docvader 01-23-2005 08:43 PM

AAARRRGH.

My forum is possessed. Get this error towards end of install:
Quote:

OK, so the column is already in there. Not sure what's missing after this step, because it stops. Maybe, something to uninstall it all, to try again???

And just for giggles, I've added quite a few hacks with this system, maybe this is not cooperating because I'm using a mac server,OSX? Pretty damn good, but, I've got this for php files:

usr/local/php/bin/php
usr/local/php/lib/php/db.php
usr/local/php/lib/php.ini

Not sure what your install script is calling to. Or, if this even makes a difference.

And do I have swf files.....

docvader 01-23-2005 08:55 PM

I'm kind of getting somewhere with the install. I've got some missing phrases now. Do you have a text of all the phrases, and where they go (global, etc) so that I can manually install them? Got most of the queries to run. I think it's in there....

Forget it, got it to work!!

I think

Now I'll be up all night loading swf files. Thai GF not gonna be happeeee.

Edit: OK, almost. Getting this error when uploading jpegs:
Quote:

Warning: copy(./vbogram/max.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /admincp/vb_o_gram_admin.php on line 120
Wonder if it has to do with something not installing... I have "vbogimages" directory in server root (not forum root), chmod 777, as per instructions.

That part of the instructions is pretty bogus really, the default is set to vbogram in the AdminCP- vBulletin Options - vBOGram settings, so why on earth does it have a different name in the install?

Just serves to confuse people.

docvader 01-23-2005 11:45 PM

Thanks for bringing that to my attention; I can now upload photos.
Cannot input text into message text field
Can input email address.
Can send email

Get this message in email, once I get it:
Quote:

Could not find phrase 'vbog_sendmail'.

That phrase is in my database though. A bit confused. Thai GF bewildered at the amount of time I can spend in front of the computer...

Getting there. Gonna get this to work....

OH, here it is
http://x.russbo.com/vb/vb_o_gram.php?do=main&imageid=15

trafix 01-24-2005 12:52 AM

ok i sent Max to myself :)

there should be 2 'vbog_sendmail' ... one in email body pheases and the other in email subject phrase .... if you do a phrase search in your admin area .... do you get them boh? is seems to me that the email body is missing

docvader 01-24-2005 01:02 AM

I'm missing the email body one. Can you tell me what it is so I can add it??

And what would cause the message text box to not allow any sort of message input??? My forums work fine; just can't add a message to this the gram.

trafix 01-24-2005 01:08 AM

vbog_sendmail body phrase

HTML Code:

To view your $navtitle please click $vboptions[bburl]/vb_o_gram.php?do=getmycard&cardid=$cardid&cardtype=$cardtype[vbogram_cardid]
