You gatta love the north carolina school system

There is 1/4 of an inch of snow on the ground, none falling, and its starting to melt. School is closed :D

Hahaha.. I remember that kind of "panic" when snow started falling... I'm glad I got out of NC when I did! They have had an awful lot of snow/ice over the past few years!

OMG are you serious. That reminds me of flordia, One little pieace of cold front that hits that state everyone their gets so scared they close everything down thinking the world will end. I was surprised when Texas got their first snow in years they didnt have a state emergency shut down or something. Starting to become sad how people react with this weather these days.
No offence to people that live in those states but its true.

Meh, we had an inch last year and there was 1/2 an inch of ice on the pavement (sidewalk) and my college was still open :(

Brad 01-21-2005 04:13 PM

My college was open to, but I only had an hour of class today, and that was cut short cause I finished my test in 30 minutes and left early :)

Torqued: they don't close everything down here, but the minute it snows you can forget about buying bread/milk. People freak out and clean the stores out lol.

Its funny to watch, espesscially when my mom tells me about when she was a little girl and lived up north. Buses ran if there was 5 feet of snow of the ground heh.

gotta love them stories from what parents tell you. "I walked 3miles in the snow to get to school." classic from all parents.

Brad 01-21-2005 04:27 PM

3 miles both ways in 5 feet of snow just to catch the bus :D. The walk gets longer everytime its told, and so dose the amount of snow.

Its kind like the fishing stories about the one that got away. By the time you get home its grown 20 feet ;)

vBTotal 01-21-2005 04:51 PM

If it gets below 90 degrees in Texas, schools are closed b/c a cold front has come in ;)

(Only a joke) lol

I know! I grew up near Charlotte and went to college @ Chapel Hill... then lived in Raleigh for a while. It's nuts. People lose their mind when snow starts falling in NC.

Johnny 01-22-2005 02:43 AM

I live in south Texas. Trust me, had it happened at any time other than Christmas Eve, they would have!

I think that happens when any unusual weather hits. It rarely snows down in deep south Texas, so when it does, it's a major event. Some of the places that got it hadn't had snow since 18-something, so it really was a huge deal to them. I have friends in other parts of the country who tease me when I get all excited because we got flurries. It's not that I "freak" per se; I'm just dying to see how my kids will react to a snowball fight! When I get teased, I remind them that the 90 degree weather that sends them into a panic is just a spring day to me. :D
