Vb Sdk

An SDK was created for Invisionboard some time ago. Found at this site:

IPB SDK is a library of PHP functions, which will help you develop advanced applications on your site. Integration between your forum and site is essential in the websites of today. IPB already has a great member system, why re-write another one if you can use one member database for both?
I would like to see total site integration like the IPBSDK for Vbulletin - using the easy variables to integrate all sorts of data into my site. Check out the Invision example for more info about what I'm talking about.

I would really like to see this happen. :)

We are working on better documentation of the php

Sounds sweet. :) In the SDK, they wrote some code which made integration with a site very easy: all you had to do was call the backend (ipbsdk.php) and you could use variables and short code pieces (Hello $username! You have been registered for seventeen days!), stuff like that. :)

vBulletin is not that much different.

You require global.php (and the libraries you need) and do what you want to do.
Only thing is that not every "function" (like creating a forum, sending a pm, etc.) is already a function.

I know - it was just that the SDK simplified it for you and came with clear instructions. Something like that would really be a great asset. :)

yeah and i could really use a thing like that...
IPB SDK let you make a user panel on your main site

Zachery 01-15-2005 03:12 PM

You can do that with vB if you know enough about php and some basic sql.

most of the people using vbulletin don't know that much about php, SDK let that group use difficult php codes

I would agree... the SDK was extremely useful. I made an entire bespoke CMS/Portal just using functions of IPBSDK. You can see the end result here:

http://www.beribazu.co.uk

User panel, login, full site private messaging system, private members areas, profile page, blogs, music and video download database scripts and much more are all possible with IPBSDK. This is one of the biggest developments in the IPB community, and doesn't require the hacking of any files at all. You simply require the sdk and use use forum functions anywhere on your site. Ingenious!
