Ever since I began at vB.org few years back, I had a test server running vB 1, vb2, vb3. All fully customized to hell. I practiced everything on these boards, I optimized the code myself, learned php on these. I hacked them to hell, with major additions like image galleries, link directories, messag system, personals, to new profile pages, functionalities, in-profile tag boards, warning system. Automated sub-forums for users (guild type), to even a CPanel integrated one lol. There was so much on those boards, ideas, alot of time (accumulated probably few years lol) and so much endless nights.

It was running up til today, at 1:00 p.m when the harddrive crashed (the backup drive had failed earlier). The CPU chip is screwed, the mother board (what seems to be short circuit, but it isnt touching anything) the server has to be trashed.

well sorry to hear that but what ever takes you down should bring you back up. should of expected it that harddrives barely last over 5years though

a sad day....

but a good day for a new start with another server, better hardware ;)

My first box(built myself) was RIP'ed after having sent home with my gf so she would have a nice new system. Got riped appart by HomeLand Defense, ;_;

one question: Where could I get vbulletin 1.x ?
cuz I'd like to see what it was

Thank you all for your kind words, and condolences. It had a major effect on my life. I am sure where ever it is now, I am sure it is only for the better :(

I have pictures, I will post in a while (taken after many parts blew up simultaneously). In these pictures you will see actual stains from the burns, and melted metal on the motherboard. I have no idea how this happend.

maybe you got a short in the electrical outlet or the power supply and then it just traveled threw the computer and effected it all

That is what i am thinking right now...earlier there was a problem witht he mother board and I just fixed it myself...it was good for a few months.

Anyways I am out shopping for a server (branded hopefully from Dell, HP or something along the lines)

Any suggestions?
