[Adv] banners Hack
 
what it does ?

This hack allows the administrators to add banners in forumhome or forums or threads ! [ can choose any , or all ]

INSTALLATION

This Hack is tested and working on vb 3.0.4 but should work on ALL 3.x.x versions as well.
Please read the installation-English.txt file in the package CAREFULLY for installation instructions

SUPPORT

well I honestly cannot promise you to solve all-hack problems but I will try to do my best answering your questions and solving the problems I could solve , I also welcome all suggestion .

here is neat that - can for certain forums make a banner saying PAYPAL me NOW :)

If its working ok with 3.0.3, i will test it tommorow...is a most wanted hack i think, i havent found anything like that till now

Is there a limit in the banners? i mean can we upload 5-10 banners, and to be shown after each refresh?

yeah , you can do that by using installtion-english.txt which i attached it in this post :)

This is a nice addon creative :) Is it possible to add code so that the logo is replaced with the adv image in forumdisplay and showthread? In this case the header image/logo will stay present in forumhome but is variable as adv image. Now the adv image is placed under or above the header image.

i think it's possible to do that , becouse we need to change the logo vars in header template :paranoid: & that mean we should edit all files.

Ok installed...i have noticed some bugs(or i see them as bugs:))

So here we are:

a) It seems, for a very strange reason, that the whole banner system, doesnt work for Netscape users !!!

U can go to my page : www.gamers.gr/board and see that if u go through IE u can see the banner, but if u go through Netscape u dont see it !!!

Also the same thing occurs in Firefox users !!!

Can we find any solution on that?

b) Also, i noticed that every time i go to the admin page to edit the banner, the drop down menu which says: "On Forumhome" and its yes or no, its on default to nothing and not in the option u put the last time.

c) How can u put more than one forum to be displayed the banner system? I added in the forum home, and in one more, but i cant find the solution to add it in more...For example i put the forum id 6, and the 7, 8, 9 but only showed in 6. Then i tryed put it with ; between them..but nothing again:(

Also, can we add that in other pages as well? For example in the arcade page, or in the Faq, Articles page:)

d) Is there any way, we can have simple stats in the admin page for that? for example how many ppl clicked in the banner, how many times has been shown, etc

e) Can we put a code or something above the banner, which says: "This is an advertisment" or "This site is sponsored by" ? U can see an example to sites like Gamespot.com :)

there are big difference , this hack https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...135#post591135

allows the administrators to add banners in forum sections & there threads only , & the banners which show in threads is as the banners which show in the section , & you can not add banners to the forum home

but in our hack here , we can add banner to the forumhome "only"
we can add banners to the forum sections only "without it threads"
we can add banners to the thread only "without the section that we add the thread to it"

or we can add the banners in the forumhome , forum section / s and thread /s in 'one' adding step.

that's all :)

well , honestly i don't know what's the problem with Netscape or fire fox , i hope that any one of coders who is using netscap or fire fox give us the solution !

now i fix it , just upload adv-admincp.php file which i attached it in this post to the "admincp" folder :) and overwrite it with the oldest one

yeah , you can do that by edit the templates which we put the $shir var in it & putting your code above or below the $shir var :)

OK, I have installed the banner, but a small problem :

I have a border around the forum and the part where the banner is goes out of the borders which makes it look awkward. Here is a link to the index page:

How can I make it so that it fits within the borders like the rest of the forum?

Thanks, great hack. BTW, I agree if you gave us STATs on the banner use that would be amazing. IF I am to have sponsors, they will need those stats.

question, I do not understand why you use this as step 2:

-> create new template "in styles wich you want the banners be shown on it"

How do i go about this? I don't understand the statement really.

I'm having a hard time telling from the screenshots what this hack does because I can't read it. Is it intended for banner ads? Are banners imported or selected for display on all forums, or certain forums, or what? I am looking for something to display forum-specific banners so people can better tell what portion of the site they are in.

I have a problem.....i have installed all ok,but can i try to Add a ban into admincp i enter into login loop....this is the step when i try to Add,Edit or Delete a ban....
