Text Message on PM
 

Description:
This hack will allow you and your members to receive a text message on their cell phone when they receive a new private message on your forums! They can setup their cell phone number and cell phone provider via the edit email & password page in UserCp and check the option for receiving the text message on the edit options page. This further allows you and your memebers to take your site anywhere you go!

Important Notes:
-It is urged for webmasters never to include $bbuserinfo[cellnum] in any templates or any part of their site as it will leak the cell phone number of the logged in user to the person viewing the page thus releasing very private information.
-It may take several minutes for a text message to arrive at a cell phone and the speed depends on your server and the cell phone provider, so please be patient.
-Due to the merging of Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless I am not sure as of the moment where their online text messaging will go but I will of course keep all people updated.
-Spamming or high volume text messaging of people's inboxes is prohibited and may be punishble by law if committed.
-DONT FORGET TO TURN THE OPTION ON IN THE EDIT OPTIONS PAGE IN UsercCp

if you like to contribute information on european cell phone providers, numbers, and the wireless network in europe i would more than be glad to help this hack reach further into europe and around the globe.

What information do you need?

i would need a contact email for your cell phone provider and then i can gain the appropriate information to see if they are supportable, you can contact me via aim, pm, or email;)

Great hack, I think that any time someone tests this baby out with a wireless company other then ATT, it should be noted here so we can tell pass the information along to our respective forum users.

yes i do urge people who are using this to keep me updated on if the hack truely worked and if it sent you a text message. this will help me to update the supported providers list and inform people of which providers have been tested. remember this is a group effort to make this a great mod/hack;)

wow UK and european wireless companies are being tough on accessing SMS information... and they dont even give access to free SMS messaging via their sites. this why i enjoy america more sometimes:)

ok Virgin Mobile in the UK does not support the system i use to send text messages so they are not currently compatiable but they told me to keep an eye on their website for updates:)

M1 a cell phone company which provides service in Singapore does provide the required service for this hack as long as the cell phone user has subscribed for the specific service;)

I will be working on v 1.5 which will include singapore in its region and M1 as of now;)

95% of the people i know have Cingular will this work?

currently those are the only ones i was able to gain information about and only those because those are the only ones included in my hacks system:)

edit:
It looks as Vodafone Ireland(not sure about the entire network yet) does not support the service required for this hack. I am sry to those who use Vodafone or at least Ireland:( I will update when i receive a response back about the entire network;)

How would I run the queries if I have no table Prefix?
