surfing speed

Is there such a thing that the speed that you are surfing is too fast for the request? Lately, a few of the forums images will not display when I am at work with multiple T-1. I have to right click and show one image for all to show...

Dean C 10-27-2004 09:17 AM

You shouldn't have any problems with T1.

Oblivion Knight 10-27-2004 10:20 AM

That's a bug in Internet Explorer 6.. I've had the same problem for a while now.

Dean C 10-27-2004 10:50 AM

In that case there's only one solution ;)

Xenon 10-27-2004 11:40 AM

Yep, it's a known bug in IE :)

but every browser has bugs, ^^

Lionel 10-27-2004 12:14 PM

Firefox? That browser should be taken off the market. It can barely open some vb pages.

Thanks guys, that make sense. It started to happen after I installed the hack to strip down the white spaces, which increased the speed of the page loading tremendously. Before I can even release my finger from the mouse, the page literally loads up.

Dean C 10-27-2004 01:16 PM

/me resists the anti-firefox bashing

Lionel 10-27-2004 01:31 PM

Fireworks is a very good browser. It's just one has to work extra to make it display properly, as it will not if there is a tiny html mistake, for example not closing a font tag.

One should instead make valid HTML/XHTML according to the W3C and Firefox will always render it properly.

Lionel 10-27-2004 02:21 PM

from time to time, one can forget a quote

Nope, not always.

I already had those nice bugs, when a code was 100% valid, that FireFox displayed it incorrectly.

But the best thing was sometimes it displayed the page wrong, then after a reload correct, after another reload wrong again.
Definitelly a bug, and it was very annoying as i had to rewrite a lot to still keep the page 100% valid, and looking as it should and does on IE.

Well, as said, no browser is perfect...

Hialls 10-27-2004 08:13 PM

my biggest problem is i use firefox, so i make it work perfectly with firefox and w3c, then i view in ie and its borked so have to start all over :P

the trick is to check both as you go along, then you can kill the bugs as they come up not when you think your finished only to see what a mess it looks in another browser, we've all been there at one point or another :)

Chris M 11-02-2004 04:33 PM

I've never had a problem with Firebird (fox, I know, but I refuse to call it that :p)

Satan

Hialls 11-02-2004 04:48 PM

well the problem isn't firefox itself, its the fact that you have to constantly check both about 4 browsers to get a site working in all :p

Dean C 11-02-2004 05:10 PM

Not if you learn to code correctly :) ^^

Ditto what dean said, code to standards, errors wont be many :)

sabret00the 11-03-2004 11:54 AM

firefox is my default browser and i can say it even renders some ++++ely done sites, it's worth the download

although Tab Browser Extensions don't work with vBulletin

AnhTuanCool 11-03-2004 12:27 PM

I stick to IE and I think many people do the same as I do, that makes the difference ;)

Link14716 11-03-2004 09:49 PM

I can't see how people can stand IE. I now middle click so much that IE is unusable. :p

Lionel 11-03-2004 10:27 PM

I love IE too. I think that 9 out of 10 people using firefox do so just to be different.

No, most people use it because it is more functional.

Yep, I can make firefox do just about anything I want, IE comes no where near that.

I want a browser to be a browser, nothing more :)

Lionel 11-04-2004 05:05 PM

I use them both. I found out that firefox rendering is very inelegant. As far as valid html is concerned, tell that to the millions of people who created pages out there.

deathemperor 11-09-2004 11:41 AM

I don't know if it's only me but I saw some dropdowns doesn't work, it can't be displayed

Firefox is impressively fast, how about Thunderbird ?

Xenon 11-09-2004 05:02 PM

Thunderbird still has some very annoying bugs, but apart from them it's a good program.

I changed to it and use it since then, once it'S a final version i think i can even say i'm happy ^^
