Hi Jelsoft,

since weeks its a little bit quiet here. It would be nice to tell us on which functions your working and when you think you will bring out a new release.

Regards

vB.org does not produce new versions of vBulletin; you can ask what is being done at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/ . The next minor version is nearly always just bug fixes and tweaks, though, although rumor has it 3.1 will include some significant new features.

Am I the only one who trembles at the sound of that?

I am having a hard time keeping my hacks updating with only the "minor" changes...
significant new features.... major code changes... recode every hack..... brrr....

Maybe its time to not add so many hacks? :)

Xenon 10-24-2004 05:50 PM

Aww, where would be the fun then? ^^

Reeve of shinra 10-24-2004 09:45 PM

well lets hope that rumored modular system will be hack friendly.

I know! What's life without spending hours with every upgrade? ^^;

Johnny 10-25-2004 01:26 PM

hey, no one said a website can be 100% completed. theirs always that 1% thats never done. and thats upgrading ;)

twoseven 10-25-2004 03:25 PM

i'm just wondering how long it'll be. i'm planning on launching a new site but as with my last site lauch 1 week later i was upgrading. oh the joys of running vbulletin. but i guess its the price you pay. unless someone was to make an upgrade process that auto modified itself to the hacks you have installed. but that would make things too simple. would be an outstanding hack if it worked. sorry for my rambling

i like to read Zach and see that he is questionning the use of this same site.. :p lol... hey Zach, you're supposed to advertise hacks, not tell to install less.. lol

oh, and btw... having a good instruction text for each hack installed is always good... documentation is missing sometimes, that's why it's so hard to keep track of the hacks we have... even if we keep the codes somewhere safe.. ;)

and no, please, no 3.1 that soon... let me think that the actual version is perfect !!!!!!!!

nop prob, i'll tell the devs to call it 3.2 then :p

nexialys 10-25-2004 04:41 PM

darn... illogical versionning... something's missing (Dora the Explorer!)

Xenon 10-25-2004 05:26 PM

hey, they left out vb2.1 as well, did you complain in the past? ;)
(j/k)

regarding their old versioning system, the newest version should be vb3.3 then, as we had 1.1 and 2.2

I'm refering to when it takes a user over 2 hours to upgrade because they no longer have close to stock files (oh good god dont remind me of the vB2 days).

There is no real reason to have 30-40+ hacks installed now really unless... you've just got to much time on your hands.

Xenon 10-25-2004 05:29 PM

... or your site is called vb.org ^^

Sure there is.... wait, that still fits in with "too much time on your hands". Nevermind.
