poll on home page

I am wondering if the poll on frontpage -size wise- is a template mod, or a hack? And if that mod is available? I am looking for something similar.

Its a hack, most of the portals around here have somthing similar in them. You could try looking there, im not sure if anyone has released the code stand alone for vB3 yet but im sure I seen it for vB2 somewhere :)

There are some hacks out there, which put polls into several areas, just take a look at their codings.

As for our code, well i won't release it, as it's implemented in a more complex system we have in the back ;)

If any one should come up with some thing would you pls post... would like to avoid installing vbadvance if possible.

Also, looking for any other items/ways of putting items on my main nonvb page would be great too.

Thanks
Coll

Take a look at the hacks source code and see how it displays polls. You should be able to do something similar by seeing how it is done in the portal hack.

I think this will still pull from the /modules/currentpoll.php so you will be able to parse the variables from that but if you don't have vbadvanced installed you won't get it, at least I think that's how it will work. That being the case you would need to incoroporate the backend code (and add phrases) from currentpoll.php into say index.php if you wanted the variables to load on your forumhome.

I said vbadvanced not vbadvanced CMPS. I don't know how the /modules works. You also need to set the poll forum number manually instead of pulling it from vboptions.

Have you found a way to be able to pull a random poll?
