A custom [command] code
I was just thinking about this when i released one of my hacks. What about having a custom BB code or command like [install], and when that is called in a thread it will show the install button of that style. I noticed there isn't a way to show the correct install button when the user is viewing the thread. Just thought it would be a good idea. :) I'm sure the built in replacements feature would come handy for this.
|
Yeah this would be a really nice idea :)
|
Wonder what the admins think about this ^^
|
They're still thinking ^^
Ok, it's not that hard, but the question is: is it really needed, as the install button is on to of the thread as well? You know, /me's the bad guy as a puristic admin ^^ |
Sure it is.. Now you have to post, find out the threadid, edit it and insert the install button ;)
|
hmm, in my threads the installbutton is there without needing an edit ^^
|
Its not a dying need, but either is HOTM. It would just be a nice little addon to the site to help others, and be more of a convenice to coders.
I don't see a install button: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/newthread...newthread&f=35 Once the thread is posted, i have to grab the link url, and the image url, and then edit the thread to add the code [url][img] ect... Plus if your using the smooth blue style and i add the install image to the style im using, then it looks out of place, would be rather nice to have it like this: User places "{install}" and then that will call the threadid for the install URL, and then it would call the correct install button for the style that person viewing is using. |
Tal;king about inline in the post created by the thread starter: to place an easy install button inline in the thread rather than having to scroll to the top or bottom to "install"

Cheers :) TBH I was trying to clarify what you meant ... so I thought it was your idea, and I was just re-phrasing it :D
So good idea yourself ;) |
Well i didn't even think about inline post with the install button. Just want a command the thread start could use to show the install in his post with the correct style install button.
|
I would love a bit more complex version of this, which doesn't only affect the install button.
I'm looking for some kind of command that allows me to have a different image per style. That would mean I could write something like this: [img=blue]http://www.x.com/imageblue.gif[/img ] [img=green1]http://www.x.com/imagegreen1.gif[/img ] and that would allow me to show a different image per style, so that it fits in with all the backgrounds. OK, it might be a bit selfisch, but has anyone actually looked at the image in my signature with the dark blue style?!?! ;) |
I'm a bit confused now ^^
Do you mean that img=... should just show up, when the style is ..., or to use the images of the img var currently set? *consufed* |

Have the image come up according to the style of the viewing user. So if someone has the dark blue style set, he'll only see the dark blue image. Of course that might give problems if users don't set images for all 6 styles... |

So if user "A" is using dark blue, and user "B" is using smooth blue, then user "A" will see the dark blues style install button, and user "B" will see the smooth blues style install button. :) |
hmm, well, we'll think about it.
I won't add it within the next two weeks as we have a lot more different work to do, and each hack now, would make that work harder ;) |
