Inviting friends by new Members, while registering...

Hi,

I have just bought the wonderful vBulletin.

Basically, I want that when a new member registers with my network, he should provide some email ids of their friends so that an automatic invitation can be sent to these email ids.

I was wondering if there is any mod around which makes it possible for a forum admin to enforce a new member, while registering, to provide atleast 2-3 or more email ids of their friends and then automatically send an invitation to those 2-3 ids stating that this member has invited you to join our forums. The invitation message should be customizable.

Is anybody working on this mod... if not then please consider this as my humble modification request.

Best Regards

thats a pretty cool idea.
i would like this feature as well, but have the emails you sending act as a referal to your friends so you get the credit for them signing up.

this can be simply added by adding like 5 email fields for inviting friends on the register page... if the fields are filled, the script send the invitation email automatically, with the referral in the url...

if you want to force users to enter any number of minimal emails, just require them in the registration process...

how would that be done

That kinda sounds like you want to make your new members send unsolicited-aka-spam e-mails to their friends.

you tell it like you wish, but many boards are using "Tell-a-Friend" systems that work mostly like that, ... you can't judge for everyone, just let each client have his own needs...

actually the way i setup my send to friend feature on my board the user can mess up the entire message any way they want but their is always a message automaticly generated by my needs telling the recieaver where the mail was sent from and what the message really suppose to be.

Indeed.

At least with the Refer-A-Friend hack, it is existing members, who have spent some time on the site and decided they like it, that are sending the unsolicited email.

In this situation, it is people who haven't even signed up, expecting people to join a site because they are.

I dont think this as a spam... many sites have this feature, which forces the joining member to give some email of their friends so that automatic forwards can be sent to them to pay a visit that site. Please I would love to see that hack.

I tested it and it does not seem to work.
I added the field and tested it but my test e-mail did not receive it.
