You just got yourself an install bud :)

Polo 09-07-2004 08:25 PM

Nice! Abe1, will install ;)

Mike11212 09-08-2004 01:53 AM

Ohh I like this.

But let me see if I got this right.

Basically people can award someone for their post.

Example someone post a question and someone replies. They can reward the person that replied with an award. If so I will install this and change the gif to accepted answer.

solboy 09-08-2004 02:06 AM

This is great :)
How about an award for Member of the month?

HiDeo 09-08-2004 03:33 AM

Nice hack thanks

Note:Right now, only an admin can see the option to add or remove an award. But, the security in the PHP allows all users who can moderate that forum use the option. So, basically, if a moderator finds out the link, there will be nothing from stopping him from using it, but regular users will get an error. I did this so you only have to edit the templates to get more then just the admin without having to edit the php.

Files to upload: 2 (one php and one gif)
Files to edit: Zero
Templates to add: Zero
Templates to edit: Two mandatory and one optional.
Queries to run: One
Time to install: Less then 5 minutes.

Right now the feature list is small. I?ll try to add any requests you guys have.

Please click ?install? if you use it.

Please post feedback as this is my first big hack.

Kind of an original idea, and I like it. Good job.

added_award
removed_award

They go under the category front-end redirect messages.

There is no need for phrases right now. I most-probably will implement them in next version.

Only admins see the 'add' or 'remove' award link right now. If a regular member finds out the link, he will get an error and wont be able to use it. If you'd like to let super mods also use the awards or all moderators, I can give you change if you want.

You may want to look at this hack:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=61108

Mellow 09-08-2004 04:00 PM

Any possible way this could be modified for use as a post/voting hack?

If the rose could end up being a counter, if every member had the option to increase (vote) the counter or decrease (un-vote) the counter, this could be used in my forums as I have a weekly caption contest. If each member could vote on a post they like then, by the end of the week you could see who had the highest number of votes for that thread.

This is a great hack but might spawn another one........

Before I added the phrases in my install, everytime I added an award I would get the "phrase added_award not found" error when it redirected back to the post.

No clue. I don't use any phrases. But I'll look into this.

No clue. Award.php only has the sql querys for this hack. In next version I'll try to send a person to index.php if someone trys to access it.

Blackbeard 09-09-2004 10:12 AM

just an idea, iam going to add this just might want to make it a bronze, silver and gold award system, might work

pjdaley 09-09-2004 12:52 PM

can you name the award? for example lets say you have a question that needs to be asnwered... who ever asnwers it wins. Can you name the award like, Winner of the Winning Answer Award, or the Winning answer Award... or whatever i want to call it, but then have another award and call it something esle...

Roms 09-09-2004 02:16 PM

Nice hack, THX :)

snyx 09-09-2004 04:15 PM

what about changing the color of the thread title in forumdisplay as well, or maybe a special icon? you don't know its an award thread until you click into it.

Roms 09-09-2004 04:54 PM

Works great Thx. :)

it would be nice of mods could use it.. ;)

In the changes I said to make in the postbits,
Find:
PHP Code:

$bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == '6'

Replace with:
PHP Code:

can_moderate($forum[forumid], ''$bbuserinfo[userid])

I didn't test it.
