Suggested strategy and free puzzle and logic games??

Would anyone be able to suggest any good strategy games (like starcraft or warcraft), that I can buy at my local electronics shop here in Toronto (like Futureshop or Electronic Boutique).

I am looking for also puzzle and logic games that help to help develop lateral thinking, and that will help you to develop the mathematical and functional aspects of your brain. Mainly for computer chess games (with beginner, average, experienced computer oponents, and online member base) If this is online I would not mind. Also any other puzzle or logic games that are free for download for the computer, or anything else you have to suggest.

Thanks!

Hmm, civilization?

I'd mention Fritz (Chessgame) as well, but you already said chess ^^

DrkFusion 07-21-2004 03:46 PM

Well I want suggestions for CHESS too, stuff from beginner to advanced :D

Xenon 07-21-2004 08:07 PM

Well, as said Fritz would be my choise.
You can define nearly every aspect of the computer's strategy if wanted, and specify the difficult level from beginner till überprofi.

Do you happen to have a url to where I can purchase it?

Xenon 07-22-2004 06:47 AM

Xenon 07-23-2004 06:54 AM

How about if I play a game of checkers with you?

Dean C 07-23-2004 01:42 PM

Stefan doesn't play checkers. He plays chess - "the game for kings" - if I can borrow one of his quotes :(

assassingod 07-23-2004 01:43 PM

Chess > Checkers

DrkFusion 07-23-2004 04:20 PM

I can play him in Chess :D and yes Chess > Checkers

Xenon 07-25-2004 08:04 PM

Risk and 3 other people make for a long night of strategy and planning, so what if it dos'nt play on a fancy screen or make noises via a speaker? It is still one of the best games ever made imo ;)

Dean C 07-26-2004 09:36 AM

Hehe I used to play risk all the time with my mother. It's a great game, best played on the good ol' fashioned board :)!
