looks like it will create an integrated, permissions based download feature to vbulletin.. looks interesting..

You could attach the screenshots here :) That way if your site goes down people'll still be able to view them :)

Well I don't think so. I helped Ronin debug this script when he had problems.

It looks more like the download script addon for ibp.

this script is much more than the attachments mod. what this script does is is allow users to submit files to your site so they can browse it as if it were... say.. pafiledb. (located on www.pafiledb.com). It has the following features for every download submitted:

- user name
- title
- description
- screenshot

In addition, you can have download catagories and sub catagories, detailed download stats, and it can autocreate a topic for you if you want (for support). There was a download system much like this that was used at www.ibplanet.com for IPB, but they went down a while ago.

Also, when it accepts new files it renames them to prevent leeching. This mod is not for your typical site, its for sites like vB.org to provide download-system in which users dont have to browse the forum. (basically for sites that have 3 goals: downloads, support, and forums). I am actually coding this for my own site, and it is highly useful.

About attaching the screenshots, absolutely not. People cant view attatched files on this board without signing up, and I think that everyone should be able to view the screenshots of mods before they buy the board. When i submit my file for official download, however, i will attatch it.

the downloads i host are often well above what php would allow for uploading as an attachment.. ranging from a few KB to half a GB.. gotta love gaming..

That is quite rare though. Anyway you can change php.ini and make it allow more than the normal 2M.

yes i understand all of that.. however, i don't let just anyone upload something to my server.. i generally use the server itself to pull down any large files.. wget is a wonderful thing..

this should be all automated, so i can have an "upload team" or i can allow all users besides guests to upload files but force files to be accepted or denied before letting them be downloaded

This will be the perfect addition to http://www.s3squad.com. We will be able to allow our JO Map Makers to create maps and upload them to the site for public use.

ONE SUGGESTION:

It would be cool if it would take one random file/screenshot and provide a way to designate it "File of the Day" so that the Screen shot will show up and link to the file.....

Just a thought.

it already has a feature like that, only it has the "screenshot of the moment" that changes every page-refresh

i still think im only 30% done, because the more I do, the more i realize i should do... but just so you know admin section = completed, and you can now view both categories and individual categories

so far you cant view files or add them, and you cant really manage the files in any method other than the sql, so i will have to do something for that

yea, im really sorry, i had to stop coding for like 2 weeks, i should be done for my own forums by monday, and then a public beta by the next weekend, and a release whenever all bugs are fixed

notice: i have stopped production of this mod for 2-3 weeks because of some real-life issues, i have instead created a temporary solution for my own board, but since all I did is integrate pafiledb into vbulletin i will not release it. if anyone wants my temporary solution please email ronin@elitecoders.org and I will link you to the files. i dont think i can release it for copyright reasons though, so ill just give it to individuals.
