They just advertised this on the news and said he was going to put these on the legislators desk! Just saw it on the news, so I had to sign the petition. You guys should, too. They said they already have thousands..

While I don't like paying exactly $2.00 per gallon, I would still like to point out that most of the world still pays more than us.

Zachery 05-18-2004 09:55 PM

You mean every other country besides the US? :p

base 05-18-2004 09:56 PM

uk is averaging ?0.83p per litre atm, or so i've heard. it's a little cheaper right here though :)

Serge 05-18-2004 11:45 PM

Bad setup if you ask me. I tried to sign up just because I feel gas prices are getting a little over the top but it wouldn't let me because I was only 17. I don't know about them but in most parts of the country 16 and 17 year olds are driving as well and also paying the money for gas. I guess we don't get to have our voice heard until we are 18 :(

DrkFusion 05-19-2004 12:15 AM

Gas prices are reaching 0.90 CAD here per litre. Thats soo outrageous I remember when I came to Canada it was 0.4x per litre.

Velocd 05-19-2004 02:51 AM

They're around $2.20 in my area.

Luckily I don't have a car.

I would like to counter your point by reminding you that most of the world doesn't pay as much for everything else :p

You live in Cleveland O.o

DWard 05-19-2004 08:31 AM

Christ you lot are lucky, at the BP near me (Live in UK) they charge 85p per litre at the moment, not sure how that equates to what you are all getting charged!

Dean C 05-19-2004 08:43 AM

Yep its 85p p/litre near me too :( (1.51665 USD)

corsacrazy 05-19-2004 08:47 AM

Dean C 05-19-2004 09:09 AM

You shouldn't have such a ridiculously pumped up car then :p - your insurance p/year will probably come out more than the student loan i'm taking out next year ;)

DWard 05-19-2004 09:10 AM

Hehe I've been looking to buy a Vauxhall Corsa (?1000), the cheapest insurance quote I've had so far is ?1300!!

The AA tried quoting me ?2400 :D

DWard 05-19-2004 09:12 AM

BTW, thats 3rd party fire and theft as well!

corsacrazy 05-19-2004 09:35 AM

im with direct line had one conviction and few years no claims i pay 1300 fully comp , its a 2.0l corsa

Reeve of shinra 05-19-2004 03:51 PM

Gas is up to $2.20 here in nyc. It just jumped up 20 cents per gallon. This is ridiculous.

Xenon 05-19-2004 03:58 PM

it's still most expensive here in germany, damn government....

2.20€ per liter
so iirc that must be about 2.50$ per litre.

SVTBlackLight01 05-19-2004 09:45 PM

I finally broke down a bought a small econo-car to drive everywhere. My "real" car get's about 10 mpg around town and requires premium which is about $2.10/gal.

Reeve of shinra 05-21-2004 11:55 AM

Your premium is still less than my cheap'ola. I spent $20 on gas y esterday and didnt even fill up the tank. How sad is that?

Tony G 05-21-2004 12:29 PM

Between 95c - $1.05 AU here.
Damn expensive.

RonH. 05-21-2004 01:03 PM

FWIW - Keep an eye peeled on the burgeoning Chinese economy. Their growth pattern will give one a fairly good indication of future fuel costs around the globe. They have experienced well over a 1000% growth in fuel needs in recent years and their future needs are expected to even exceed current growth patterns of today. Naturally there are other factors to consider but this one is the MAJOR one.

High fuel costs worldwide has become a mainstay and it isn't expected to change very much for at least the next 10 years or so. Maybe its time to start seeking alternative energy methods once again.:ermm:

Reeve of shinra 05-21-2004 04:11 PM

WE should never have cut alternate fuel research funding.

Rose 05-21-2004 07:34 PM

I'm in Oklahoma and we're ranging at about $1.89 per gallon, give or take a cent here or there. It's not long before we hit $2.00/g. :( We're rather lucky to be less expensive than the east or west coasts, though.
