Stockmarket Hack?
 

How easy and is it a good idea, to have a stock market hack? Which can be intergrated with a money system.
Members could buy shares, and sell them at the right times.. they adjust all the day randomly

^^ one of my admins came up with the idea when he was waffling on. :D

wow all these are really old (stockmarket requests) ... but I am working on one. :D

Someone I know made a cgi/perl one that he was thinking about letting me use, but I didn't feel like waiting, so I started working on a vb3 integrated one. So far it's looking pretty good, is a bit sloppy codewise atm though. ;)

Currently planning on alpha testing the base functionality of it tomorrow (aug. 28) sometime.

The buy/sell is kind clunky at the moment, but I'm already working on an input system to enter the amount you wish to buy. Will probably implement it sometime over the weekend. Now is just for some testing :)

I decided that I'll be adding more features and stuff, but they will all be optional if you want. *is currently working on them* :)

Just was looking at the stockmarket hack and its very impressive.

@Tekton.. if you need to clean the code to be more vB protocol, just ask,.. i may be available to help you out...

Yeh it is messy, but I'm not too concerned about that yet as I'll clean it up a little later down the road. Currently it's able to integrate into the ushop hack perfectly fine. I've decided to expand the hack and allow users to create their own "businesses" of sorts in a sub-section. Not sure how good that will turn out, but it will be fun to test, if not just scrap at the end. :P

Currently working on:

- Cleaning up some of the earlier code (very sloppy compared to more recent stuff) ;)
- Building a log page for all the stocks. General price info, bankrupt stuff etc. Basically like a report of the things I guess. People seem to be asking for it a lot.
- Adding controls to the admin panel.

Oh... and bug-fixing too... :rolleyes:

Hehe, no paying. Just doing it while I wait for my major project to started -- don't wanna get too rusty, ya know? ;)

Well at this point, I'm concerning my self with the security of it, so that takes time looking through as it's quite a bit of code.

Its better to be patient and get a better hack, than be impatient and get one full of flaws. My humble opinion anyway lol.
Whatever, this hack looks awesome and will definently be brill when its released :)

Hi. I'm done studying for a while now (just got my CCNA, yay!), so now I have some time to do stuff. Before coding though, I changed the layout a bit. I'm still not done, but anyone can change the graphics to whatever, I was just in a mac mood. :)

I should prolly update a litte more, even if it's not needed. I'm working on a simple commerce section for buying forum-enhancing stuff (similar to ushop/ucash) along with other various things that relate directly to the stockmarket hack.

NOTE: If you prefer (most will), you can just use the regular ushop hack in place of this, as this was designed to be compatible and work with it from day one anyways. :)

Most of the items in that area are currently not-working for people with the actual link, not to mention a lot of the other stuff I'm recoding, but it should soon.

Finally got around to finishing up the commerce area... during which I was hired to code an entire site for someone :P

Still working on this in some of my free time though. Early April will be the time for (basically) final testing and bugfixes, and then I can get it all ready for installation etc.

I'm working on the user business recode at the moment; should be done with that soon. Then I need to busy myself with various settings, logs, and help files.

I've decided to add graphs via jpgraph (optional, of course) to begin showing some logs in a prettier way. Eventually there will be a log page, but I am just getting started on it~

Looks excellent, this would be an awesome new way for my members to use their points if a way could be figured out to use Ucash points, or buy gold with them anyways. Looking forward to the release ;)

Oh wow! It's so cool that I found this thread on the front page! I was just coming here to request someone would create a stock market simulator! My sports community would love this! I'd give them the opportunity to buy and sell shares of players on the team... Will this be compatible with the dollars generated from vBookie? I'm pretty sure everything is cross relational here as far as these "points" go. This could be very awesome.

While I am originally creating this to work with ucash, it really doesn't matter what field is used for the currency in it, so you can basically set it to anything you want. I'm using ucash on my forum just because it's hooked into the forum to post for "gold".

I made a little mini-game that users can spend their money on (if enabled). It's a fairly good way to get some excess gold out of the economy. :)

Added a little micro-game event that occurs randomly (1 in 30-50 chance per 16 hours (configurable)) while users are browsing the stockmarket. Can't really post a link... since it's random and requires a login... ^^;;

I created a simple bug tracker for myself to make it easier to identify and resolve bugs.

Yes, it's an addition made specifically for ucash/ushop. It can also run stand-alone.

It's going good. :) I have to work on it between working on my paying stuff though, so that slows it down of course. Need more time in a day~! :P

There's still quite a bit more stuff I want to add to it before it's ready for beta, and here's hoping I won't have to do TOO much extra changing when vB (3.5?) eventually comes out.
