vbulletintemplates.com - ugly?

................

Xenon 05-08-2004 03:55 PM

Well, as you said, it's just you opinion.

But i still agree, that there should be some more styles to choose from

O.o considering that skin was the most request skin by the original members, i actually really enjoy the vBT templates.

What are you looking for in the way of a style?

btw why not just tell us at vBT?

sabret00the 05-08-2004 05:04 PM

i preferred it as it was originally layed out before it was "tweaked" but that's documented at vBT

assassingod 05-08-2004 07:17 PM

vBulletinTemplates.com isn't an unofficial site. It has been official (using licence system intergration too) for several months

Dean C 05-08-2004 07:28 PM

Also why come on here and say something so negative. If you feel its ugly then why not do so in the site feedback or lounge at vBt :)? I personally find it quite purty :p

Ryan Ashbrook 05-08-2004 08:09 PM

I, personally, like the style.

I would like it even better if it was a Deep Red instead of light blue. :D

Scrub 05-08-2004 08:28 PM

Maybe the author of the style is a girl? :p

Ben` 05-08-2004 08:50 PM

i dont like the look of it much :S

guess i need to broaden my mind a bit, i just could not for the life of me see how anyone but the author liked that style

without exaggerating, i think its the ugliest vb site i have ever seen

that blue, that background

vBT uses the same system as vBulletin.org so unless you didnt do somthing correctly when you registered it is probaly somthing on your end

Do you have your own forum, let's take a look at your style. :)

I can assure you with 100% certainty that I did it correctly. It was most definetly an error with their system. No if and or buts.

And I'll bet you did something wrong, because they use the exact same system as vBuleltin.org. Code for code, line for line.

No vBT does, use the same system at this point in time, it did not in the past, however the system was working just atad slowly (it took an hour or two to validate).

If you go update your profile either at vBulletin.com in the members area or at vBt it should kick in, if your still having a problem let me know and ill see what i can do to make things work

Reset emails? What are you on about?

Edit: Oh, I understand now.

Ryan Ashbrook 05-08-2004 10:29 PM

Do you also realize how old that thread is? They were still using their own system back then.

vBT was running 3.0 before vB.org so Jon made his own system to reflect the vB2 system.

Try more than a year with the licensing system in place.

I do not find the style ugly. There is nothing ugly about it. I find it hard to believe, in some cases, people who liked the vB2 style which used the same colors and images do not like the vB3 eqivalent. Of course, it's not going to look the same. vB2, vB3. Two different layouts. Yet everyone raved about how fantastic the vB2 equivalent of this style was, yet they can sit there and say it looks ugly in vB3. I will just never understand.

And another thing, I'm getting frustrated about the fact that the vB.org lounge seems to be the place for people to mouth off something that isn't to their liking at vBT. If you have some critisism for vBT, why don't you come and actually say it on the forum? We have a feedback forum for a reason, you know.

I apologize if I sound rough or rude in this post.

and the vb.com chit chat forum seems to be the place to talk about vb.org.

and on some totally different boards, there's the place to talk about vb.com.
really fascinating, so...

Sorry to say this, Tony, but unless things have drastically changed over there, most of the time, you can't even get replies to any posts let alone complaint ones. That's the reason I stopped going over there. I already know my posts are going to be ignored, so why bother posting? ;)

insanctus 05-09-2004 10:41 AM

I personally dislike the style to, but I do not go there to look at the style, I go there for other needs for templates , when I have them, and it is a good resource.

As for posting, I never do. I have no interest in being active there, I am not big on templates.

And yes my site to most is very very ugly ~ laughs.

sabret00the 05-09-2004 10:42 AM

theirs not enough regular posters on there and normally i'd say increase staff on a regs:mod ratio, but occasionally it's best to do it the other way round.

also get the newest mods/hottest mods on the index, and also mods of the month, and style of the quarter would be a great.

but apparently most of this stuff was gonna be intruduced but never happened :(

also give folks some choice in terms of style settings, that's meant to be the place for style sets and yet we're restricted to one basic one, i'm a fan of dark skins, i tend to spend most of my time on sites with darker skins, easier on my eyes, their was something about that written by an optician once.

Isn't that normal behavior? If you critically discuss someone's work, but that someone doesn't take criticism easily (such as the maker of vBT), you go somewhere else to discuss the matter. As simple as that. And there are other reasons. One would be user activity (how do you want to discuss something if noone responses?), which is amiss at vBT.

As for the baby skin: I don't like it. This is merely my personal taste.

sabret00the 05-09-2004 10:51 AM

also might help assist vBT's growth to have vBoTM moved over there?

also i find it ammusing the skin is being toated as something installed by popular demand, the people who originally wanted it back aint there anymore and the newer ones don't seem that nostalgic ;) however i must admit i liked it at the time.

Indeed it is. It's like some sort of chain reaction. People don't like critisising something at the actual forum. Oh well. =/

I, personally, do the best job that I can with the time that is given to me. I explained this in the other thread about the dying sister sites. I am only one person, it needs a whole network of active members, like this place does, to be able to cover every single support question on the forum. We don't have that, therefore it's impossible to cover every single little thing. We do our best. If it's not good enough for everyone, well, that's not up to me to judge.

And let me assure you, complains will not be ignored. It's just a generalisation to think that vBT people would ignore you if you, or anyone, made a complaint. That's just silly.

I don't think that method works. People need to be interested in helping the community out. From what I see, people think it's just a dead zone of some sort, and I don't think this is the case. The site needs a new reputation, and people will then come to help out and offer their support to the site. Adding another mod will not achieve this. But once again, this is not for me to judge. And that's probably a good thing. :P

one? you need a few, and i think anything is better than what's going on over there now, which is alot of nothing, reward the few active members you got now.

EDIT: Just for the record, i have no desire to become a member of staff on any jelsoft/jelsoft related site, i just want the best for them as a member of usergroupd 2

Tony G 05-09-2004 12:21 PM

I feel as if that is just a quick fix, and it won't work in the long run. This isn't for me to decide anyway, but there isn't even enough activity for more mods. If the 'few' active members of the site really do care for the community, they will stick by it no matter what. They will try to help, mod status or no mod status. It's up to them. In my opinion, someone who says 'vBT is this and that and something is wrong here and there' is not going to help the site. There's a difference between pointing out problems, and fixing them.

Floris 05-09-2004 12:26 PM

I get the feeling some people only post to these kind of conversations only to put more wood on the fire while it is already out.

theirs a fire? the threads people merely suggesting how to make vBT more attractive and active, don't make it into something it's not, i haven't sensed any annimosity from this thread and hopefully if such posts aren't injected it will remain that way.

13th_Disciple 05-09-2004 01:20 PM

I am not much of a fan of the new style and wasn't a fan of the vB2 style.. I go there only when I can't find something here, and generally would prefer to go to a single source for information I may need or just to see what's going on..

The fact that everything seems to be so split up has me very discouraged and I find myself not really caring anymore because of the divisions.. I don't mean of people who leave and start other sites, I just mean of the fact that something can't be discussed and needs to be done elsewhere..

It is just that much more user-friendly to contain all information.. it's also more functional.. all that being said, I still go to vBt, but only about once every 2 to 3 months..

Sorry, but I see that differently.

sabret00the 05-09-2004 02:14 PM

their is no, that place aint good cause you're not doing a job or that place needs to be closed, from what i can recall of the thread upon my last full read, it's just it would be good with this/that and a skin change.

it's in no ones best interest for this to be anything other than a few friendly suggestions. i've been going to vBT for a little while now and have tried to be as active as possible as well as be as active as possible, surely three buzzing sites is better than one, kinda like the heads thing? i really think you're seeing something that aint there in this thread, but then again, i'm only me, and have been known to be wrong on many of occasions so i wouldn't really pay any attention to what i was saying if i were you :nervous:

Ryan Ashbrook 05-09-2004 03:12 PM

I'm gonna start going going to vBT alot more often now.

Even if it's just me running around with the mods helping people, one more is better then none, correct?

And besides, IMO, it's not the style that counts, it's the content of the site. I've seen some sites with really ugly styles that are even more active than all of the three vB sites put together.

And trust me, vBT has good content, it's just getting it out to people.

rebelsrock06 05-09-2004 05:48 PM

VbT ROX, ppl might not think the skins or the mods or even the activity is enough but there are hundreds even thousands off ppl on Vbt a day. I personally think VbT is a great board and it seems to be under a lot of mudslinging by the customers a lot lately, WTF is everyones problem

Are you implying that I shouldn't say I don't like it because I haven't made a style myself? That's ridiculous. That's like saying don't call a car ugly unless your a car designer.

You assumed my reply was going to be that. You should never assume.

I was just going to take a look at your site thats all, then come post a thread on vB.org about what I thought of your forum. You clearly get a lot of fun out of it, why not others. :)
