New thread started when new user registers.
I would like to have a new mod that created a new thread in X forum when a new member registered.
Thanks! |

Some questions, since this sounds like something I'd not mind writing after completing v1.2 of the Quick Account Switch hack.
If I understand correctly you're all asking for an 'introduce yourself' thread bot? I.e. a user registers using username 'x', fills in some other information as well, possibly custom profile fields. And the admin should be able to edit a template for the subject and body of the new message, and set the forum in which it should be posted. Would this be posted as the new user (intro thread), or as the admin (welcome thread), or should this be a setting? I'm also supposing this should only occur if people complete the email verification (if active) or the admin approves their account (if active), to me this makes sense as I let people verify their account and would see no point in welcome threads for possibly spoofed accounts. |
I would like this as well
After the email (for me).... Using a bot or the choice to one the do activate for there reg (email) it starts a thread (of your choice... meet and greet for me).... for them to post about themselfs But what if they don't post? Could you then have the bot create a thread from the user info? Just a thought... if you do decide to do it will you post here also with the link? Coll |
traderx,
It was my understanding this bot would start/post an introduction thread on behalf of the user/admin. So I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'if they don't post'. A different approach would be to automatically send a PM on the user's registration, with a link that creates a new topic in a specific forum. That way they could post themselves. Then if they did not create a thread in this 'meet & greet' forum after a specified interval, a vbcron script could still create this topic. From what I understood though, the topic would be created on completion of the validation procedure by the user/admin, or directly if this moderation isn't in place. Can you elaborate a bit on what it is you want to see exactly? Maybe it's a compatible idea, something that can be done optionally. J/ |
Yes, I'm looking for having the content from specified fields go into a template and be posted in a specified forum.
So you have an application with 15 questions, on TOP of the registration questions, name.. etc. Those 15 answers would then go into a post upon completion of registration. That could be the introductory post. |
'k, thanks for the feedback. I'll post the link here when it's ready ;)
|
Really looking forward to it!! :)

To answer your question... since this thread was from 2004... Yes this mod was created... prospered for several years, and long ago removed by the author.
