fantasy football (soccer) hack

wondered if anyone was interesting in making one?

deathemperor 04-01-2004 09:44 AM

for use to bet and take money ?
if yes, I am hoping someone could make one
thanks

sabret00the 04-01-2004 09:46 AM

well more for store points but hey a means to an end an all that :)

Dean C 04-01-2004 09:50 AM

Hehe this would be a great idea. However this would be the biggest vB modification you'd ever seen. You'd have to enter in scores, goals, times of goals, red/yellow cards, passed completed etc.... Would take absolutely ages for the admin(s) to enter the data :(

sabret00the 04-01-2004 09:54 AM

:( couldn't it be parsed off a sports site somehow?

Dean C 04-01-2004 10:47 AM

Possibly but I haven't seen any sites who provide this kind of statistical information via a feed :(

sabret00the 04-01-2004 11:33 AM

that sucks are i'd be an aweesome script.

deathemperor 04-01-2004 01:34 PM

Livescore.com got what to do with this project? Livescore.com is a site which provide nothing but only score.

deathemperor 04-02-2004 12:57 PM

just a best site that can provide you the latest score and the fastest/.
I actually dont need the hack that auto seek the results, let admin do that.
I only need a hack that support taking bet and check the result after admin provide all and give/take money from users that bet. that should be enough.

deathemperor 04-15-2004 01:14 AM

can anyone ? the store is here, it's time to let user get $$$ by gambling !
plz plz plz, I know it's not too hard with admin submit all the score and user just bet at get money !

deathemperor 04-17-2004 02:21 AM

plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

deathemperor 05-16-2004 06:37 AM

***bump***

Hi dude. Once vBookie is released, I will be working on vFantasy.

vFantasy is designed to be a flexible "Fantasy X" system, so it could be used for Fantasy F1, Fantasy Football, Fantasy Tiddly Winks, etc.

It's not a particularly difficult job as far as I can see, but the larger the vFantasy event, the more work there will be for the administrator/moderators to set it up in the first place, and also to keep things up to date. As long as vBookie gets released soon and I can start on vFantasy, it might be ready to beta test using Euro 2004, but no guarantees.

That's true if you want to try to emulate the big Fantasy Football games, such as the Telegraph's one. However, it doesn't have to be that big. You could easily remove some of the variables and still have a fun game that's less of a hassle to keep up to date. Football's a big job because of all the players involved, but in any given week, only a sub-set of those players will score, for example. There are only 20 goalkeepers (not including subs/2nd keepers) each week, and few red cards. If you discount things like assists, scoring first etc. the amount of data to enter each time is lessened. As I've just said above, I've planned a fantasy framework which I will be working on soon. Football might always be too big a job for someone to administrate, but a team of people could do it. Something like Formula 1 is quite possible for a single person to look after.

deathemperor 06-05-2004 09:03 AM

tjdrico, you have done a great hack with VBookie. I thank you with all of my respects.
vFantasy would be superb, but even without that you are still the great man ^^
Thank you very much tjdrico. you make community get more reality.

sabret00the 06-06-2004 12:31 AM

vFantasy sounds awesome, is it still in development?

deathemperor 06-06-2004 03:54 AM

I guess
if not there wasn't vbookie ^^

Most certainly. Now that the bookie hack is complete (for now, barring essential work anyway), I'm concentrating on the fantasy one. Hopwfully I'll have something I can release within a couple of weeks.

sabret00the 06-06-2004 04:24 PM

nice work, you need any help, just look me up :D

pgowder 06-09-2004 12:54 PM

I've been interested in this for a long time. I'd like to use it for sports, reality shows, etc.

I tried to do one myself, but just didn't have time to complete it.

Adrian Schneider 03-16-2005 11:11 PM

My Fantasy Cricket hack is 3/4 done, although this is for cricket, and a paid hack. You can check it out so far at http://world-a-team.com/aj/fantasy_cricket.php

(IT ISNT COMPLETED YET!)

Edit: maybe not 3/4, maybe 2/3. Game & Teams are done, just the points are left, then everything that is linked with points, then of course the final touches (and there are plenty of those).

BigIke 03-17-2005 07:10 AM

How in depth is it? I was thinking something along the lines of Yahoo's fantasy football (live java [I think] drafts, free agents, trades, etc.) but that might be wishful thinking...

Adrian Schneider 03-17-2005 01:15 PM

Once I'm done I'll release it here for someone to modify, I don't have the time (if it's alright with the person I'm doing it for).

Dean C right now the Player list is managed by the admins (or anyone who is granted access), I was thinking of getting it to connect to a remote database, but you'd need permission from them. Seemed like more trouble than it was worth, however if you could also get the scores from them, the benefits would be great, because checking and inputing 60+ player stats (with 4-7 fields each) well, just isn't my choice of 'fun'.

Since Yahoo is probably has better programmers than myself (LOL!) theirs is much better. Maybe once I get it finished someone can help me update it, and maybe even get a fully customizable one.

tjdrico, how far are you on yours?

BigIke 03-31-2005 06:27 PM

There is currently a hack over at SourceForge that is looking pretty good, and it gets stats, players, schedules etc. from NFL.com, because they have "a nice structured system of page creation. URLs are predictably encoded (such as nfl.com/rosters/team or nfl.com/gamecenter/live/nfl_date_away@home) and the presence of player profile links provides for definitive identification when correlating stats." I don't think they have permission to use NFL.com's stuff. Is that a problem? ;)

Oh btw, heres the link to the SourceForge project:OFFL

BigIke 04-02-2005 07:25 AM

Specialist is this possible? To get stats and teams etc. from nfl.com?
