Moderator Applications
 

There was a hack like this in vb2 but i don't think one was ever made for vb3.

The gist of the hack is, it creates a page where potential moderators fill out info and then it gets sent as a thread to certain specified forum(s).

This is by far one of the most useful hacks for a forum that has a lot ofp eople and has lots of people that want modship. Instead of having them spam you on AIM about being mod, this way, you can have current moderators vote on the application and therefore do it in a more democratic way that makes everyoen happy. Or you can just have it for the organization and whatnot.

Is anyone contemplating makin this?

Ah, Lesane's hack for vB2. I have been toying with this but haven't gotten serious about it yet. I will see what I can come up with on it. ;)

that would be great man, it's a very very useful hack to say the least.

Doesn't have to be relaly confusing, as long as it's capable of making an application that creates a thread in a forum or two forums (the latter is good cause that's what I'd need).

I was just about to make a thread about this until I did a search and found this thread. I would love to see a Moderator Application hack for vB3! That would be awesome. Boofo, how serious are you about making it? I would be grateful if you would do it! I'm sure many others would be, as well. :)

Sorry, guys, it had to be put on hold a bit. It seems now that I'm a Mod here they expect me to actually act like one now and do some Modding. If I had only known before. ;)

I'm doing the best I can with all that I have to do. I also have to get the ok from Lesane before it gets released for vB3. Just sit tight and it will be worth waiting for. ;)

When my site gets more members and I have to choose mods. I'm going to make a sticky in the thread and just put please send me a private message including ALL of the following in the same order. Then put stuff like:

Experience:

posistion applied for:

Why you would want to be a mod:

What categories:

and stuff like that.

yeah anybody can do that. it also looks better and easier to do it this way.

Well after you found all of your mods, just delete the thread that is about the mod applications. Its either that or waiting months to get this modification that everone wants. I don't really need this now though, because my board has only been up for 5 weeks and only has 131 members so far. Prob around 400 or so I'll choose my mods. By then this modification could be out then again it couldn't. Not really concerning me though, if it is I'll use it, then if it isn't I'll do it the way I was going to anywase. No biggie to me though.

Its not really any easier doing it any way. They both are just as easy in my eyes.

Nope no questions :) just lettin everyone know what I was going to do about my mods. :) Now that I think of it, I do have a few questions. I'll post it in the launge section though.

I need this hack because i have staff forums and i let the current mods vote on the moderator application, kinda like a congressional system so all the mods have a say in the appointment. This is better because the mod team is all about how well they can work together. If i just appoint a mod, i might not know how well he's like amongst the other mods so this way it is better.

So if this hack were to be made, it would have an application page and the results would be submitted to certain forums as a new thread, very useful and handy for my system.

And also, i have 300000 posts, 1500 active members and more people than i can keep track of from pms.

An update: The hack is almost done. Just need to clean up the code a little, but I am stopping work on this hack temporarily until I can get an ok to release it from the original author. Without that ok, this version will never see the light of day. So be patient and let's hope he gives us the thumbs up. ;)
