Attachments Corrupted ?

Thought I'd let someone know (if it hasn't been pointed out already)....

It just started this afternoon...

Whenever I try and download a zipped attachment, I get currupt archive errors.

And its not just me that has been getting currupt archive errors...

obiwan8472 03-29-2004 10:06 PM

No, there is aproblem all over vbullentin.org.. everyone is reporting errors.

Boofo 03-29-2004 10:08 PM

I just downloaded Chroder's devbox zip file and it opened up fine for me.

Scrub 03-29-2004 10:08 PM

Oh bull++++. LMAO! I just spent my last few hours downloading all the hacks. BAH! What a waste of my time.

Zachariah 03-29-2004 10:16 PM

broke for me also

Dark Jim 03-29-2004 10:19 PM

I use Windows Xp built-in zip extractor. Files are corrupt. Try downloading some vb3 arcade games for example.

Link14716 03-29-2004 10:20 PM

I downloaded v3 Arcade again like an hour ago and it worked perfectly here.

tgmorris 03-29-2004 10:23 PM

I tested something that I know was good and shows the correct size on vb.org. When downloaded it's 500+ bytes short - making it corrupt. AFAIK nothing has changed on my end.

SpeedysWorld 03-29-2004 10:25 PM

Just an update, it still isn't working for me, and I have tried mutiple threads, all show up Corupt.

lasto 03-29-2004 10:31 PM

so why it working for some and not others is a weird problem that !

Probably has something to do with what browser you are using and/or what is being used to decompress the zip. So, on that note, would everyone who is having that problem post their OS, web browser and version, and zip program. :)

Martyjp 03-29-2004 10:35 PM

Worked for me about an hour ago, now cant download any attachments as they are all corrupt. No firewall getting in the way and have the problem on both my pc's :(

Scrub 03-29-2004 10:35 PM

I just got down downloading every hack on this site pretty much and all zips are corrupt on my end. I am using the built in zip program like Dark Jim. :(. Dunno why though, as they worked earlier today?

Martyjp 03-29-2004 10:37 PM

Dont work in IE, do work in Mozilla

strange

Dark Jim 03-29-2004 10:37 PM

I could download zip files fine when using getright but not using IE. And I can download zip files fine not from the vbulletin.org/vbulletin.com forums.

tgmorris 03-29-2004 10:39 PM

WinXP, IE6, WinZip - Also failed using Opera

In both cases the file size is wrong.

Worked with Mozilla.

Scrub 03-29-2004 10:39 PM

Now I wish my DSL was to download Mozilla. :p. Stinking dialup. LOL

Zachariah 03-29-2004 11:08 PM

Its the site, not your computers.

SpeedysWorld 03-29-2004 11:37 PM

I downloaded Mozilla and it worked!!!

Thanks ... untill it's fixed I'll use this .. too bad I have to keep using vB2 due to no image gallery on vB3 that's stable.

There's the common tread - just proving that IE blows once again.

Dan 03-29-2004 11:45 PM

Yea i get this also its very weird....

wrongful 03-29-2004 11:53 PM

haha i just spent an hour upgrading all of my software, emptying temp files, enabling zip files on my forum and downloading them, thinking it was just me. The problem is also on vbtemplates as well. very strange.

Same here.

chas_h 03-30-2004 12:28 AM

I'm also having problems, I have posted a message at Vbulletin.com forums already. I wonder if it may have something to do with the new security measures they are putting in place for the downloads of the forum converters, they are being very careful that the non-registered sites don't get those converters.

Chas.

13th_Disciple 03-30-2004 12:38 AM

if that's the case, it's very disruptive to those who use IE.. i use mozilla firefox, so i don't care.. however it shouldn't be browser dependant or OS dependant.. kinda defeats the purpose.. you rule out 90 percent of the world.. and people sometimes aren't as apt to change so please don't tell folks to just DL firefox..

no reason in the world IE users should be punished because of some internal security/ site change..

Reeve of shinra 03-30-2004 12:39 AM

THought I would try it out....

win xp using firebird and winzip 8.1 ... everything seems fine.

Using Internet Explorer and winzip 8.1 its corrupted.

I saved it to disk from IE and again using winzip, it came up corrupted. However, using 7-zip, I was able to open the archive. (dont know if its all there or not though).

chas_h 03-30-2004 12:57 AM

Also, I tried Netscape 7.1 and was able to download fine. I appears to be an issue with using IE to browse these forums.

Chas.

Zachariah 03-30-2004 01:04 AM

Its the site

I use IE and d/l 15-25 gigs every 2 days in Zips,RAR's ect.. Someone added some code and forgot something. No big deal .. sooner or later it will be fixed.

Use win-rar 3.x and only have problems here.

13th_Disciple 03-30-2004 01:30 AM

i see amykhar replied.. i reckon that's the hidden post deal.. so it must be a site deal..

must be the site then..

nm the off topic part.. not worth the fight anymore..

Wayne Luke 03-30-2004 02:53 AM

I can't replicate this either here or on vBulletin.com. What exact zip files are you having problems with?

Wayne, when you go to download a file, istead of d/l the zip, try to open it and that's where I get the error. I never used to get that. But downloading the file to my system seems to work fine. ;)

Try Chroder's stats hack zip.

Yeah, that is a known bug in Internet Explorer according to the Microsoft Website:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308090

Reeve of shinra 03-30-2004 03:13 AM

Wayne, I tried with the vbpetz hack and one or two others I cant recall at the moment.

Reeve of shinra 03-30-2004 03:15 AM

I just read the article and I had a problem when I saved to disk as well. It doesnt matter to me as I use firebird but it maybe affecting others.

Fi_InCogNiTo 03-30-2004 03:20 AM

I don't think this exact issue has anything to do with that bug in IE. I can DL attachments in any other vB3 Forum, but just cant get em here. The txt files DL fine. It's just the zips.
