Description of the Hack:
This will provide your vB community with a business directory.

This version is not time limited in anyway and there is no obligation to upgrade to the full version.

I originally stated that I would not release any of my hacks here, however due to popular demand I decided to change my mind and put together a txt documentation so it can be released here.

This version is:

1) be FREE and not time limited in any way without any obligation to upgrade to the full version.

2) only support business directories, hence auctions or classifieds listings will not be available.

3) not include "Buy Now"/"Pay Me Now" buttons.

4) not include paypal intergration.

HTL users only: Unfortunatly I just realised that I didnt add the VB Trader FAQ's that are added to your forum FAQ's. This is now fixed in the ZIP and for those who have already installed the VB Trader I will put together an addon pack for you.

this seem to be a great hack :)

but what is the difference between the lite version and the full version?
btw is there be a full version?

I have updated the first post with wequested info, The install instructions are in the zip :)

There is currently 2 issues stopping me from upgrading the hack to a full release

1) a new gfx icon set, this is being done by colicab-d (tnx)
2) the main search functions ... i am having problems getting code to work and would appreciate a hand to complete this function ... please see my post in the services forum

what is the purpose of the 'Lite Version' of an auction script that doesn't actually allow you to have auctions?

The VB Trader is made up of 3 different advertising sections

1) Auctions
2) Classifieds
3) Business directories

The LITE version is limited to Business Directories ... There are a 2 or 3 functions that apply to the other 2 sections in the full version and hence are not available for the lite version as well for example the hold function is only applicable to classifieds, members should not be able to put a directory listing on hold etc

I have also disabled all income generation functions for the LITE version as well which includes removing all PayPal gateways etc.

Business Directories are just that! ... im not sure your community topic but for a car site your sub categories could be ..
.. new retail
.. second hand dealers
.. motor macanics
.. panel beaters
.. blah blah

for a photography site you could have sub categories for

.. new cameras
.. second hand dealers
.. developing services
.. developing supplies
.. blah blah

community members who might actually offer these services can promote their services in there business directories

What all would we have to do or pay to get the full version? I would love to put up auctions on my site and stuff.

I am currently using this hack, at the moment there is no content in my business directories as of yet. But this shall add a new level of functionality to my forums.

When i started my forums it was for the UK , but because of this hack i am now able to serve the US community as well. Before with links directories etc. it would have been messy.

Once the search feature is implemented it think this will be astounding ... now all i have to do is attract the US Small Business's to our forums.

erm!! well after eading the post on vb.org this looked does sound very good and the sort of thing i was seeking.

I have installed HTL and I am sure followed the instructions with vb trader light.

I have attempted to install and can only get to stage 2, then i get "Could not add a Phrase group in the System!" So I guess I have missed something important?

Can some kind sole please enlighten me

I cant see any issues with the htl file .. i will discuss the matter with Kura incase the is an unknown issue with the HTL & Gold.

I am feeling very stupid lol - I can't figure out how to set the vbTrader permissions or add to the directory :) A little help for this moron please? :D

OK you will find the vb trader nav menu under the HTL menu, you would have to refresh the admincp navigation then everything will be there :)

is it me, I did notice that there is no "Hack_Tracking_Log.htl" in the zip which i downloaded from this thread? Should there have been one? So I have tried using the Hack_Tracking_Log.htl from the HTL install, which I now assume is the wrong thing to do.

Ok, you have decided to use the htl to install the vbtrader. I pressume that you have the htl working properly on your forum.

Everything you need to install vbtrader via the htl is in the zip file. From the htl navigation menu and select "install hack". From the menu select vbtrader and click install.

From the next page select "perform real install". Follow the promts and all is done.

Feel free to start a help thread at evb as it will be easier to provide you with further assistance.

Trafix i figured out how to add categories and such but i still cant figure how to add listings and such.

I have now closed the petnshow site for new posts and member registrations .... however you can now find the VB Trader support forums at www.ozezyhosting.com

ok, i'm starting to get a little peeved off... I've been searching for this hack for the past two weeks. I've sent numberous emails and made many posts. I really want this hack, but the aithor is no where to be found and I cant' fid where to download the full version.

For the love of God does anyone know where to find/purchase/download this hack at?

Aye, I've checked his "Official Support" forums, but nothing there just one post from someone asking the same thing. I've emailed him several times and posted at everythingvb.com as well and still nada, nothing, zip, zilch, zero. Tis sad to see such a good looking hack go down the drain... Its definately on my "buyer beware" list now. Unfortunatley, I'm still looking for it or something very much like it.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is the same guy that owns/owned vbskins.com....

Has anyone been able to get the search to work for this? All I've got is a blank screen for vbt_search.php.

Ya... I was just kinda hoping that someone else may have worked out that last part with the search function. It's a slick addition to a new site I'm working on but without the search working it's kinda like picking up your new Harley... with no gas money in your jeans. :ermm:

The author responded to my thread over on his "official support" forums... Unfortunately, I've not heard from him since then.

Trafix has posted to his forum for the first time in ages yesterday stating that he is back and picking up where he left off (after replacing his computer). Credibility has been severely damaged but if he can crank out some updates in a hurry it would go a long way with many people.

There is competition right around the corner and it will be supported. It's first incarnation will go live with my community in approximately 2 weeks. I got sick and tired of waiting so I spent the money.

I'll keep my site updated with it's progress.
