However, there's one thing i've been wondering about ever since i purchased vB.
How will the updating thing work? I mean, after installing a load oh hacks on my rc4, i'll have to redo the whole job with every new release?

yes, you probaly have to do that yourself, if you used .htl, work would be easier.
I only used 2 hack, the vbadvanced and Arcade hack, so rehack it is not so hard.
after the gold's released, there would be more hack and I'll use more for my board ^ ^

Hurray! Just in time too, I converted my board to 3.x a few days ago. I'm looking forward to seeing a few of my favorite hacks getting ported! <3

Not all hacks have to be rehacked... but I too use VBAdvanced. Because the upgrade deletes those templates there's a nifty function in the install to install the templates only. :) Good news!

Upgrades don't necessarily delete new templates. I think new templates are automatically NOT deleted, they are kept AFAIK.

Ah, okay, thanks. :) Whatever the reason, I do have to reinstall the templates. :)

I wonder it upgrading from rc4 to final requires a lot of changes.. read if it is needed to reinstall my hacks ;) or that it's just a bugfix here and there

Well either way you're going to have to 're-install' your hacks, not re-install them back on, but use a compare software such as Araxis Merge to port over the modified code from your old forums.

I'm prob just going to do a clean install with my board/s, I know prob a lot of work, its fun hacking and checking out the new code changes, will be interesting to see the default art update :)

Only bug fixes AFAIK from RC 4 and Gold :)

Only the VB forum is completely up at this time, I guess they figured folks would go nuts if they didn't have somewhere to vent while the upgrade was happening..:)

I have halted development on my site to the expense of broken pages in anxious anticipation of this. I tried to upgrade my 2.3.4 to 3.0 rc4 today and had a db error, and of course when I went to vbulletin.com saw it was being upgraded...

Now I'm like hopping around waiting for it to be released so I can just upgrade and get this site going! I hate waiting!

It's released ladies!

Just updated my forums on www.burnleyweb.com and www.sightings-uk.com and everyone okay.

Mods and templates weren't deleted, except for the Refer Friends template (Only happened on the burnleyweb forum though).

Apart from that, everything seems to be ok

Yep .. updated mine too .. all went smoothely, without problems. All previous hacks have been reinstalled and are working OK :cool:

Ok, since I haven't used internet for like 3-4 months, I feel stupid and such a newb. Although in the member's area it didn't say anything about VB3 Gold, I didn't know what I downloaded. I downloaded vb3 just now, but not sure if it was Gold or not. Do I download VB3 Gold in the members area? Don't trash talk me for being such a newb. >_>

You got the right one, the official version is just called 3.0.0
