vb3 Archive for IIS 6

I am searching for a vb3 archive (google optimization) for IIS 6.

It is possible to install the ISAPI Filter (ISAPIREWRITE lite) so that the htaccess files are 100% supported.

But the native vb3 archive uses specific apache things, so that it is not possible to use a google optimized vb3 under IIS 6.

Please help!

dslteam 02-22-2004 06:17 PM

What do you mean by "CGI version"? Of what? Where can I found it?

i dont think the archive supports IIS, i know you probably like IIS but i never i thought it was pants and the windows apache server kicks its ass out of the water

and the wondows apache supports archive ;) and lots more than IIS... and its stable now

For some reason i think the archive just doesnt work with CGI, however it might work with the module, best to ask someone at vB.com ;)

Again:

Windows 2003 Server with:

Apache 2 = The archive does work great.
IIS 6 = The archive doesn't work at all. With Rewrite_ISAPI the vb2 archive worked, but not the new vb3 archive.

yeah but dslteam

apache on windows is much better than IIS easier to setup and run you can almost use every module (almost there are a few but not that many anymore)

and as you said it works gr8 with apache 2 on windows so use apache2 for windows you know it makes sense :)

and i had a little row over the archive with a few people and i am telling anyone that the new code or whatever it calls (they said nothing has changed... but i said how can nothing change if you have changed tons code from beta1 to RC4 and the archive calls alot of other php scripts) but anyway i know the archive is not 100% no matter what they say as when i had RC1 on my linux box running fine with archive but as i have upgraded it stoped working on RC4 just out of the blue.

there is also a httpd.conf (apache) addon for the archive now on vbulletin.com

and anyway since RC4 just go over to vbulletin.com and look how many support threads there are about the archive and it linking back to main page etc

Mickie

There are many opinion whether apache 2 or IIS6 is better. But I want to try IIS6 and such an important feature under vbulletin is not working there and nobody informed me when i buyed vbulletin and payed money. And that is why I a quite angry.

But nevertheless I really hope that I am not alone with my problem, and that someone may be make such a new script.

No one informed you, but did you ask if the archive worked on IIS?

dslteam 02-27-2004 06:00 PM

when i ordered vbulletin i had never the idea that some feature doesnt work?

when you buy a car, do you ask whether the brake works? i think it is usual, that if there is something that doesnt work on a such popular plattform - that the users get informed and have not to ask.

Again, did you ask? inquire? search?

Trust me. if they could make their archive work how it does under IIS and PHP as CGI dont you think they would have?!

You didnt ask about it, you ASSUMED. Do you assume a car comes fully loaded for the lowest price too?

i dont understand why some people are even using IIS.. it just blows compared to apache.. gg..

dslteam 02-27-2004 06:17 PM

:-D Zachery - you missed one important thing.

I am very happy and satisfied with vb3. And the only thing i ask is - if someone else have may be found a solution for a working archive under iis6.

I tried IIS6 with PHP as ISAPI and it still doesnt work. So there must be another thing that makes it be not compatible with iis.

Its been said alot of times on the forum that it just doesnt work with IIS because it uses apaches modules. :P
