Get Lindows for free

Hello all,

I just did this myself and im currently downloading the ISO of 4.5 developer edition. You get access to it, the regular edition, and lindowslive! which allows you to boot from a cd-rom.

Heres how:

http://www.nvu.com/landing_page.html

This will only work if you do it before the 24th, so if you are intrested make sure you do it before then.

O yea, the download iso option is free of charge, if you want a box shiped to you, you can get it for $10 plus shipping.

Thanks for the heads up Brad :)

Now if microsoft would only do something like this for VS.NET I would be set :).

For this week anyway :D

Yeah, I've not touched lindows, I'm hardcore into Gentoo Linux ;)

as for windows, I haven't found a reason to switch back from Gentoo, I have everything I need here :)

Velocd 02-15-2004 07:35 PM

I'm diggin Redhat 9, excellent for development, except I often have to switch to Windows for any kind of gaming or to listen to music.

I lack audio or video drivers for linux. I had Redhat 9 running on VMware for awhile, but the damn network wouldn't work and drove me mad.

colicab-d 02-15-2004 08:10 PM

What is so good about Debian over the others? I couldn't find any screenshots on the Debian website.

I just prefered it. I like Mandrake as much as Debian because it was more user-friendly but SuSe 9 Pro, 0\/\/n5 so it beats that anyday.

Link14716 02-17-2004 02:10 AM

I just use Knoppix, but I'm going to need to re-install it anyways. Of course, I used the cupon on Lindows and am downloading it as well - I'll see if I can get around to installing it when I get a bigger (read: much bigger) hard drive.

i suppose my "Got Root?" shirt would fall under this category *gasp*

I just had someone sign up for an account last night and the coupon worked as I was there helping the person sign up (Feb 26th). If you need more, there is a coupon on the deviantart website that is displayed on a banner ad. You can download any Lindows software for free, just not the "Developer" version. :)

Dan 02-28-2004 11:52 AM

I know of a better way :D Goto www.deviantart.com and sign up and then there should be a lindows link on the right side. You will get it absolutely FREE

I totaly missed out on this :()

Hahah its still good.

amykhar 02-28-2004 05:04 PM

I've been fighting with Gentoo for a while now, but my stupid router doesn't like it. So, I'm using Fedora Core 1 as my desktop system. Fedora is a good compromise in my house, because the kids can use it, but I still have the power, stability, and price of Linux. From what I've heard of Lindows, it's designed for users who are totally new to Linux and I think it would drive me insane. I like having control over my box.

That is what I just said in my above post. As I said in my above post I can still download all of the Lindows software for free any time I want to. I don't know what you're "smoking".

You don't even have to sign up.. http://www.lindows.com/deviant_promo.php (First ad banned I receieved when I went to their site.)

Kwak 02-28-2004 07:56 PM

Thanks for the info. Might as well see if it works on my 166 mhz P1 pc.
