although thinkign about it, it might need a user cp option to say posts direct to inbox (i.e.) you get a daily list of threads to inbox as well all posts in the threads (could be rather troublesome on the server so not totally sure about that, was trying to rob msn groups idea lol) anyway if not a list of threads would suffice and thus they could visit and subscribe and then reply via their inbox, i think quite a few inactive members on all boards across the net are just lazy.

Not sure if this is what you want. My NNTP gateway hack also imports emails from a pop3 server into the forums. You can set up different forums for different email boxes, or even using the same pop3 account for different forums by the using of a keyword in the subject. It is particularly useful to archive mailing lists.

I made a modification like this for a client and also specified that I would release it here as well, but I'm waiting for him to answer... and he's not anwsering...

I would certainly like such a hack. I run a forum that is 'used' by some PC/web fearful people who really do not want to move to far away from replying to emails, so I like the digest a day and repy to idea. What would it take to create this hack? Am willing to pay for time...

I am looking to be able to send an email via my mobile phone and have vB create a post from it. Breaking news type thing.

Am I in the right area for this? Does it exist?

I have Lierduh's nntp hack but it isn't doing what I need it to with receiving and distributing emails to forums only.

EDIT: Lierduh's hack is working pretty well, it is managing to import from the pop account, I'm just a little worried that posts to the forum will end up emailed back to the people who emailed the forum (I just want it to be 1 way posting by emailing into the forum.
Also with people being able to post directly into the forum.

I will keep a check on it but so far I'm really impressed with the hack - search nntp gateway - for Lierduhs hack...
