... is debating that invision board forum software is BETTER than vbulletin. His arguments:

- More functional admin cp

- better template system

- overall a better forum software

Oh for the love of god.... someone tell this guy he's wrong so I can point him to this thread as to WHY vbulletin is the #1 choice!

So who cares? vBulletin isent perfect for everyone, if he is happy with ibf then thats his choice.

I just like to prove that im right that vb owns :p

on madcats note, vB does have a way more functional Admincp (vB3) template system kicks anythings ass. but to each his own :)

yup, if i was using IBP for years, i'd mostly make idiotic unfounded arguments like his too ;)

I like IPB to a certain extent. The admin CP is okay, but the template system is awful.

Yeah.... thats my experience with IPB too.

IBP is very good for what it is, but lacks a hell of a lot in comparason to vB... I've been running an IBP board for about 6 months now and I can't wait to get back to vB.

The template and style system is why I do not like IPB. But it is good, free software, but not my first choice.

I didn't like the code of IPB at all. The templates were very annoying in my experience, and the Admin CP wasn't as intuitive to me as vBulletin's. Maybe I'm just too partial to vB from having used that infinitely more than IPB, but my first impressions from admining a vB back 2.5 years ago were great (that was 2.03 at the time, iirc) whereas my first impressions from admining an IPB were horrible.

Indeed, i wanna see what Invision 2 is going to be like...looks quite nice at the moment.

IPB is simple but it costs as much as VB now which is stupid. VB is more secure, but VB3's template/style system can eat my shorts. VB3 destroys IPB in everyway except style/template... imo of course.

no its still free just need to FIND the download link they still give an unlimtied trial :)

this is like comparing PC vs Apple

we ALL know which on is superiour in more ways ;) - but some choose to go the other route

It depends solely on what type of user you are.

For pure aesthetics-+++++s, designers and shiny-pretty-powerful, the Mac is generally a better choice;
For gamers and general users (varied between pretty much everything), the normal PC with Windows is best;

I have a friend who's an avid Mac-user. He's shown me the prettiest things he can do with OSX, and some really spiffy features/functionality things that Windows lacks (along with speed at rendering so much visual beauty dynamically).
But it's not for me. I wouldn't ever go to Mac because, pretty and spiffy as they may be, they're not what I see as extremely efficient. I prefer using my screen real estate as much as possible, and OSX seems to 'flock' the windows by preference, rather than maximize everything...

so what I'm trying to say in my endless rant... an OS has an attitude, just like a game console. It depends on your attitude what OS or game console is best for you. So is the case with vB / IPB / all other forums.

From what I understand, IPB 2.0 when it's released won't have the free trial....
