News Box v5.1
 

With this hack, you'll add on your board a news system that you control from the admin control panel. These news, you choose them, they appear on the forum in a box, with marquee text viewable for each member. They can be used, to display a general message to your members ...

you can insert VBCodes and smilies. You can choose to display or not the news box on the forum.

Improvment in comparison with VB2 version :
- Display of a special news if the user is unregistered. THe news is a link to the register form.
- Use of expand/collapse system to reduce the box. The position of the box is saved

Vous pouvez inserer du VBCode dans ces news et des smilies. Vous pouvez choisir via le CP admin d'afficher ou pas le systeme de news sur l'accueil du forum.

Amelioration par rapport aux precedentes versions VB2.xx :
- Affichage d'une news supplementaire si le visiteur n'est pas enregistr? lui disant qu'il n'est pas enregistr?, le texte est un lien qui lui permet d'acceder a la page d'enregistrement
- Utilisation du systeme expand/collapse pour reduite l'affichage de la boite de news avec enregistrement de la position de cette fenetre

in the admin panel, Options > Admin Help Manager add this topic (doesnt exist in unhacked vb3)

Then Add New Setting Group and add this : (add new setting group how?)

I gave up at 2.

you should state to how to turn debug on and off if its required :) also please note you SHOULD close your boards while running in debug :)

Ok, re-did that last bit. I went to add the aff_new via the drop down options lsit, not the news option on the side. Once I used the icon on the left it worked. Now however, I have this problem : http://legionsofloki.com

i think that it is interfering with the code for the side bar. If I were to stick it inside some table code would that fix it?

Would it be a case of changing the table code in the news template so that it matches the code for the forum?

Try modifying news template to adjust it with your "special" header ;)

ok 3 small problems

1: when you want to delete a news post the options are
Are you sure you want to remove this news ?
Oui | Non

Where do i change this to
YES | NO?

2: I added the $news_affichage here

But when i turn the option to show the news ON for some strange reason it centers everything, Forums headers, whois online, everything :(

3: Where can i edit the text font for the scroling news ?

is there any way to place a story with a link to a forum rather than marquees?

too many people are having problems with this, i recommend Beta status...

- I updated the .zip, just replace your news.php with the new one, I forgot to translate these 2 words ;)
- Add at the end of the news_fin template, it should bo OK after ;) (I modify it in the zip too)
- To modify the text font, search in the news_news template : and replace by @Proxy MX : I Don't understand what you want to do

You will not unless you set debug mode, this was mentioned afew posts back

thats will sort it for you, REMEMBER to CLOSE you board before doing this and when done remove the debug code.

When you add more than 1 news item.

It displays it incorect, it places the next item under the first BUT does not make the news box bigger to put it in.

Suggestion.
why not make it so it scrolls inline like

1. First news post | 2. Second news post | 3. Third news post and so on and so on.

Also maybe have an option to choose the color of the text so you can alternate

the colors, HOT NEWS in red and say other news you can put in another color

@dede : I don't understand your problem, what's wrong ??

@snowbot : to have the same size as your forum width, modify in the news template the width of tables to adjust it with your forum's width
- Sure of it ? I just tried and all seems to be ok for me, have you a SC ?
- To make news scroll inline just remove from the news_news template
- To choose the color of a news item, use VBCodes !! ;)

What about having a "display news for XX hours/days" then after the alotted time the news turns off?

Our forum is powered by Xoops entirely.

You might find it strange for vbulletin hackerz lol but we didn't want to put a big forum on our release site because we just do hacks so we have choosen xoops :)

where do i turn this on or off... when i go into news options it doesn give me the buttoms to click just the text saying "onoff"

never mind i got it... when i entered "yesno" i had an extra space at the end like this "yesno " hope this might help someone else out..
