It's avaliable! (GAMMA)
Wheeee! Kier released it a couple minutes before Dec 5th (according to member's area)
|
You didn't see the RC-1?
|
:p
|
double post! :p
Hmmmmm I dont think I'll upgrade until I find a theme worthy of buying. |
Gamma is the style upgrade, bassically as far as I understand it its rc1, more or less. but don't quote me, going to upgrade pixelfx.ca to the new gamma, :) keeping my other licence 233 so I can test both :)
|
They style upgrade in gamma though, adds an entirely new level of out of the box functionality. And, as far as I can tell, fixes that nasty little problem of having to use clear gif's to properly align title banners that aren't of the original dimensions :D
|
i agree, i like the functionality
btw is that dhtml or jscripting in the menu's |
I'm guessing you guys were all up installing it. :( I didn't get a chance yet and probably won't today.
|
nah never installed it, theirs a few hacks, i refuse to upgrade to 3.0 unless i get
|
well, the new style isn't that intresting for me, but the bug fixes are :)
seems to become a hard we ;) |
im starting my upgrade now after refusing for so long.... i had vb 2.2.8 so 1st its over to vb 2.3.3 then over to vb 3 ... HOPEFULLY lol
|
Why wait till RC1 to hack when Keir said the code change will be very minor?

I love the new style, only the postbit is a bit boring.
|
Check out this tweakness:
http://www.animesystem.com/forums El Postbit: http://www.animesystem.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7653 The only problem I have, and the vast majority of the members at my site, is the default style is too damn bright. We're used to dark colors like vBulletin.org. This one is quite blinding. It's too bad Jelsoft devs didn't make a dark style. :^/ (which mostly means having white text over dark backgrounds) |
I installed it last night. I really hope that the final version doesn't mean installing Beta 3, then upgrading to 4, 5, 6, 7, and then Gamma. It was around 70 steps.
|
Just moved Gamma over to my live forum. The users love it, and it's running great so far.
It's weird, because even though it's more "busy" looking -- it's definately smoother. Odd. :) |
Believe it or not but I still haven't installed. The more and more I wonder, I think it's a little bloated (and I know some people may feel the same ... but I'm sure the majority disagrees with me). Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of the vB3 features.. but there is a LOT that I don't need. I'm probably going to wipe out the coding that I don't want (like Karma) and change some additional admin cp code so it doesn't have so many on/off switches because I'm pretty sure I know what I want on and it'll be permenant.
Should I do this or forget it because it's a waste of time and doesn't really save resources? |
I'd turn off the features, but I certainly wouldn't delete the code. That would be extraordinarily dangerous.
|
Noted :/
But it just really bugs me when things just sit there and don't do anything (database tables, code, and vb settings). Yeah, I know, I'm a freak. :p I guess I shouldn't risk it huh? |
Just turn them off and leave it at that.
Deleting lots of code will quite likely mess up your system big time, making it insecure / unstable. When they're turned off, they'll not consume any resources, other than a tiny bit of diskspace. |
