vb.org new style

Is this ever going to finish? :ermm:

sabret00the 11-30-2003 08:42 AM

i suspect you'll get a "when RC comes out" ;)

Dean C 11-30-2003 10:16 AM

If you're referring to Corey's style then the project was never completed. We have a style contest running at the moment where the winner's style will be used on vBulletin.org :)

Koutaru 11-30-2003 04:25 PM

oO; I thought the contest was over. I guess I was mistaken

Thats what I am talking aboot mist. Its been going on for so long I could have made 10 styles by now. :o

Dean C 11-30-2003 06:11 PM

Then submit one dan, along with all your friends :)!

MindTrix 11-30-2003 06:17 PM

Lol has anyone submitted any yet? Its been a long time now hasnt it?

assassingod 11-30-2003 06:26 PM

You're not allowed to view threads in the Style Forum, so for all we know there could be hundreds.

(This stops contestents being 'inspired' from other peoples work)

filburt1 11-30-2003 06:35 PM

Yes, there have been submissions.

MindTrix 11-30-2003 06:37 PM

Oh right, sorry didnt know that.

a ballpark figure on how many going at all?

Xenon 11-30-2003 07:18 PM

not that much as we wanted, but at least quite some good ones.

@Neo: we said, that the contest won't end before RC1, so it's not our fault, that it took so long ;)

sabret00the 11-30-2003 08:14 PM

i was gonna submit one where everything you click that shouldn't be clicked lead to ebslive.com where you'd all be hypnotised and want to join :-|

Erwin 11-30-2003 08:35 PM

Yeah, we've had a few that are exellent, and which we will probably use.

The difficult thing for style designers is that Gamma and RC1 will have a totally different default template style - this will mean most of the styles will have to be redesigned to be compatible... at least that's what I expect anyway.

RDX1 12-03-2003 03:36 PM

You would think they would be smart and make a psd, not a demo

Velocd 12-03-2003 07:36 PM

Yes, every professional designer should always keep PSD templates of their images used in design.

I have an unrelated question, that probably has been asked over at vBulletin.com, but alas I rarely visit there.

Will vB3 RC have an option to link to an external CSS document? I'd have to implement this option myself if not, because I'm hardly in favor of mixing CSS with HTML.

Xenon 12-03-2003 08:29 PM

not that i know of Velo, but i also think it should..

Dean C 12-04-2003 02:08 PM

I believe so Mike :)

Erwin 12-05-2003 02:23 AM

Apparently none of the beta vB3 templates will work for Gamma... so we'll have to modify the current styles anyway...

Dean C 12-05-2003 03:31 PM

All that work for you and Stefan again hehe - good luck ;)!

Xenon 12-05-2003 04:47 PM

well it's a hard job administrating vb.org but someone has to do ;)

yes in vb3 gamma you can have your CSS stored in an external file :)

Velocd 12-06-2003 03:08 PM

Yep, I noticed shortly after installing.

Will cause problems for me because my new style's CSS files (four for forumhome) will probably fight with vB's...

Filburt, it doesn't matter at all how CSS stylesheets are put into the document. If the class definitions conflict, they will conflict whether vB's style files are external or embedded. :)

@ Xenon & Erwin:
see, that's why I suggested you stick to only one (new) style on vb.org once that contest is done. Or at least, one major template set only, with X styles being different based only on style options, not different templates. Looks more professional, and saves you a sh!tload of work. ^_^

we just have one master styles, all others just have different headers/footers and color infos, but the style itself is one inherited template-set :)
