Paypal sucks.....
 

Well right now to me it sucks.... I just found out to even to use it to pay something via paypal you need to have a cc or bank account.... I had my dad and a friend send me money so I could pay to lengthen my vBulletin member's access and buy my friend a www.deviantart.com subscription for christmas. BUT they let you RECIEVE money but not let you SPEND MONEY!


ARGHHHHHHHH THIS MAKES ME SO ANGRY!

What are you talking about? LoL, I spend and recieve 100s of dollars a week without any trouble, offcourse my debt and credit card are in it.

The only alternative is for them to send you cash and you know that?s not feasible. If someone can?t even make the effort to open a bank account, why should anyone spend the time to come up with a method to pay those who don?t? This thread is ridiculous.

Paypal needs to verify the person's identity, and they usually do this when they can verify the person's credit card or bank account. I move hundreds of dollars a month using Paypal, and it's been great for me.

PayPal is an awesome system. Great for personal use, although sometimes not the most favored among merchants.

If you don't have a checking or savings, I don't see why you would sign up for PayPal.

Feh... guess I'll wait till 5th of December(i turn 18).... then I'll get a credit card

Also without a job, I'd imagine you wouldn't get a credit card for quite some time.

youd have a much ezier time opening a checking account granted you can toss 20 bucks into it :)

Also, in paypals deffense, it's not them that sucks, it's you for not reading the terms and for not having a bank account ;)

Even if you don't have a CC registered with your account on PayPal. If you have been sent cash and you have it on your account on PayPal you can spend it. :)

If you have a credit card in the US and you're under 18, it will be in your parent's name, not yours, so you won't build any credit. Also, to pay the bills, you obviously have to send them money which requires a bank account (checking ideally unless you have the bank pay for you).

No i can't send it as well, i do can receive money but i can't send. I do have an unverified account because i didn't added a cc but i did added a valid working bank account. My spending limit is $0, while another dutch guy i know have the same account, added a valid bank account.. didn't added a cc and he does can send money. I have emailed paypal 2 months ago but i heard nothing from them!

It's simple. I had this problem as i'm not in full-time employment yet i'm not eligable for a credit or debit card (so my local banks say). So you can't even withdraw money without adding a credit card to verify your identity. It sucks but it's worth it - in the end I just persuaded my local bank manager that i'd be receiving some income from my online work.

Hmm strange. They must have changed the restrictions from back when I was able to do it.

... I was able to send money without having a CC over a year ago now, so I guess they've had time to amend their policies. :)

PayPal have recently messed me about. Payments on my account were not showing up on my bank statement:( Sorted though, hopefully.

I've been using paypal for 2 years, I used it to pay for my site, my activeworlds stuff and vbulletin, and bunch of stuff online, I don't have a credit card, but I however do have a checking account, though for some odd reason, it wouldn't accept my debit card so I had to use echeck function. >_>

I obtained a Visa one week after turning 18 in July, and was unemployed. My parents had very good credit, and that is what helped.

I purchased something for ?140 almost a week ago, the buyer has been "payed" and I still have that ?140. :D

No, because I wasn't sure whether money sent to me was actaully being put in my bank.

Combined with eBay PayPal is great, because there are no fees. :D

...but for other reasons. Did you know they do regular "random auditing" and can shut down your account until you fax them a copy of your driver's license and bank statement? They did that to me and it screwed up a few of my auctions.

When i got my Pay Pal account i just entered my Visa Electron Debit card info. But then they take money out of your account, and you have to wait for your next statement (or wait about 4 days and print one from a cash machine) too see it has been taken out, THEN go back onto the website and enter in the code that showed up to let me use it.

So much hassle but i guess in the long run it is a good idea because it checks that people arent using false cards etc.

All in all pay pal rules!!! It must do, Why? Because thats how i brought my vB license HORRAH!!!

PayPal used to rule, I was a great supporter of them previously! Their policies are changing now that EBay owns them. You may not like them so much in 2004. I'll take CCBill.com any day (now) over PayPal.

Dan, I 've got you covered.
Paypal has the option to pay with a virtual CC but its hidden real well.
Under MY Account click on Withdraw.
Then click on "Shop online with a PayPal virtual card "
Under ENTER ANY STORE URL put www.vbulletin.com
From there on you're on your own as I can't do it right now :S
Basically, it'll give you a CC number and exp date etc to enter like a normal CC.
